Saturday with Santa:
Santa Needs YOUR Help!
Saturday with Santa is Rainbow Days’ annual Christmas party for children and families experiencing homelessness. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14 , where we anticipate serving more than 500 children , infants through adolescents, and their families residing in area shelters. We will provide them with a special day of family fun and holiday-themed activities, including a visit with Santa, lunch, carnival games, and arts and crafts. Each child will receive a stocking and a toy to brighten their holiday season, and parents will receive special gifts as well.
We need your help as both a volunteer and donor for this project! Volunteers are needed before, during and after the event. There are four separate tabs on the signup : one for volunteering, one for toddler stockings, one for elementary-aged stockings and one for parent stockings.
PLEASE NOTE: As a reminder, prior to volunteering, all volunteers must complete a volunteer application AND, for those who will be working with children and are 18 or older, must have a cleared criminal background check on file with Rainbow Days. If you have not yet completed an application, please fill it out here . The background check will be emailed to you after you submit the application. Please contact Volunteer & Events Manager Sunni Roaten with questions.

Volunteer Spotlights:
EY Connect Day & PepsiCo Day of Caring
This month, Rainbow Days was blessed to count on the support of two amazing employee volunteer groups!

On Oct. 4, Rainbow Days was thrilled to be part of the annual #EYConnectDay ! A dedicated group of Ernst & Young volunteers spent the morning at Rainbow Days' offices making 30 fleece blankets for homeless children to stay warm this winter! We are grateful for Ernst & Young's continued support and to be able to be part of the firm's national day of service.
On Oct. 24, we worked with a wonderful group of 110 PepsiCo / Frito-Lay employee volunteers for the company's annual United Way Day of Caring . This diligent group completed a variety of special projects benefiting Rainbow Days, including stuffing 425 stockings with presents and essentials, which will be distributed to homeless youth at our upcoming Saturday with Santa event this December.
Community Connection Highlight:
Perot Museum
In honor of the " Origins: Fossils from the Cradle of Humankind " traveling exhibit, which arrived at the Perot Museum earlier this month, Rainbow Days was invited to be part of a special community art project!

The "Origins: Fossils from the Cradle of Humankind" exhibit displays two recently discovered skulls from ancient human relatives in South Africa: "Neo" and "Karabo." To celebrate this, children in our Community Connection group at Cedar Crest Elementary School were tasked with decorating a 3D-printed replica of "Karabo" for inclusion in the Perot Museum's exhibit, which will be open to the public from October to March. Their creation, which displays Rainbow Days' Major Messages, represents a brighter future for children in a colorful world !
Family Connection Highlight:
Gymnastics at WOGA
On Oct. 26, the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA) Parents Club in Plano hosted 52 children living in local motels and shelters for a day of fun, adventure and gymnastics! Each child in attendance had the opportunity to learn and work one-on-one with a WOGA team member, face their fears and experience what it's like to train as a gymnast.

At WOGA, the children loved having the freedom to learn new things in a positive, safe environment while making unforgettable memories and discovering the excitement and thrill of gymnastics . Rainbow Days' Family Connection team is beyond grateful for its continued partnership with WOGA. Visit our Facebook page for more photos from this wonderful day!
Red Ribbon Week
During Red Ribbon Week 2019 , held Oct. 23-31, Rainbow Days' Community Connection team has been busy educating youth and spreading the messages of prevention and healthy choices in schools in three districts all across the greater Dallas community!

In fact, more than 4,300 children and youth -- as well as more than 360 adults -- have participated in Red Ribbon Week activities hosted by Rainbow Days! These fun and engaging activities include classroom presentations , assemblies, pledge card signing , banner decoration and a fun run .
