Landscaped Island Medians Coming Soon to KOP
King of Prussia District will be adding four new landscaped medians to the list in 2019

Since 2011, King of Prussia District has installed and maintained 18 planting beds in roadway island medians on First Avenue, Rt. 202, Allendale Road and I-76. Not only do landscaped medians provide vibrant landscaping for all to enjoy, the green medians reduce noise pollution and stormwater runoff and improve air quality. In addition to the environmental and aesthetic benefits, landscaped medians are a proven method for reducing vehicle speeds on busy roadways.
King of Prussia District is adding two new and two existing island medians to the planting list at the beginning of 2019. After PennDOT replaces concrete and asphalt with a raised median later this year at the intersection of Rt. 202 and Mall Blvd., King of Prussia District will install plantings. The second median planted will be the new mid-block crossing installed with the First Avenue Road Diet.
Two existing island medians on Mall Blvd. will also be enhanced and maintained consistent with the other 20 island medians and 8 landscaped verges to create a unified planting palate in 2019.

Proceeds from this week's King of Prussia Beerfest (the BIGGEST party in the 'burbs!) are used to install and maintain these beautiful landscapes year around. Come out to Beerfest and help us raise funds for landscaped medians and other physical improvement projects throughout King of Prussia.

City Lifestyles in Suburban Communities
Lifestyle centers like KOP Town Center, continue to thrive in an increasingly Amazon-driven world, reports The Philadelphia Inquirer

Last month, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on King of Prussia Town Center and how the "lifestyle center" has created a downtown in the middle of the suburbs.  The center's diverse selection of shopping, dining and outdoor space is what one real estate executive called a "perfect example" of how developers are manufacturing an urban-like downtown in the suburbs and offering shoppers experiences they can't get online.

The center's mix of restaurants, entertainment, apparel and amenities, surrounded by pedestrian areas, greenery and housing, not only gives consumers a desired convenience, but also allows retailers to open stores in nontraditional formats or markets, said Stephanie Cegielski, a spokesperson for the International Council of Shopping Centers. Developers and communities are starting to realize that mixing retail with living and office space creates the density needed for a vibrant place where consumers spend time.
