How to Support the Springfield Community
From the Rev. Terry Kukuk, PMV Executive Presbyter
| |
Dear Presbytery of the Miami Valley,
I have been asked by members of the presbytery, as well as from members of other presbyteries around our denomination, about ways to support the Springfield community.
First, hold the community in prayer. The Haitian community has been the target of lies. This bearing of false witness against the Haitian community has caused the entire Springfield community to experience many layers of stress and strain.
Let us offer up prayers for safety, peace, and unity as the Springfield community finds ways to navigate both the opportunities and challenges that come with large scale growth…

Huntsville Presbyterian Church celebrated 200 years! | |
Huntsville Presbyterian Church, Huntsville, celebrated its 200th anniversary September 21-22, with a weekend of festivities to mark the occasion.
“A milestone to be sure for any organization, but as part of the Church Body, that milestone means 200 years of reaching out to our community, 200 years of rejoicing in our collective good times and weeping in shared sorrows, 200 years of sharing life, for better or worse, together,” the Rev. Ben Beres, Huntsville’s pastor, wrote in a letter to the community.
“We’ve tried to be salt and light in this village for a pair of centuries.”

Peace and Global Witness Offering
World Communion Sunday, October 6
| |
A gift to the Peace and Global Witness Offering enables the church to promote the Peace of Christ by addressing systems of conflict and injustice across the world.
Individual congregations are encouraged to utilize up to 25% of this offering to connect with the global witness of Christ's peace. Mid councils retain an additional 25% for ministries of peace and reconciliation. The remaining 50% is used by the Presbyterian Mission Agency to advocate for peace and justice in cultures of violence, including our own, through collaborative projects of education and Christian witness.
The Offering is usually received on World Communion Sunday, this year on October 6 but may be received anytime beginning September 8.
Special Offerings has prepared free online resources for churches, which include worship resources, bulletin inserts, minutes for mission, education curriculum for children, promotional items, and more.

Services of Hope for the Election Season
October 29 and November 26
From our friends at The Bellbrook Presbyterian Church
| |
The Bellbrook Presbyterian Church, 72 West Franklin Street, Bellbrook, invites you to attend two short, 30-minute services in October and November oriented toward those who feel tired and alienated by a contentious election season.
These are not political services - no politicians, parties, or issues will be mentioned by name, and all are welcome, regardless of political stance.
If you are feeling frustrated by our divisive political practices and are seeking hospitality and graciousness, come and worship. The hope is that together we would find ways to be part of meaningful solutions rather than to contribute to divisiveness.
Questions? Email secretary@bellbrookpc.org or call 937-848-2378.
