CAREER ONLINE HIGH SCHOOL

On Monday, September 29 Redwood City Public Library celebrated the graduation of three exceptional students from Career Online High School: Silvana Daniela Leon, Ezra Maria G. Flores Solorio and Olga Gonzalez.

Silvana said, "I wanted to finish my high school diploma because it was a set personal goal for me and for my future. I gained a lot from the program starting from all the activities shared all the way through the support I received from my coach and Project READ.”

Ezra said, “I wanted to finish getting my high school diploma since I wasn’t able to get it on my own terms and having to get a job immediately after turning 18. I gained a lot of refreshers for a lot of topics I had forgotten about!”

In partnership with the California State Library and with the generous support from the Redwood City Library Foundation, the Career Online High School program offers adults in the community the opportunity to earn a fully accredited high school diploma—free of charge. Students receive guidance from an online academic coach and in person tutoring by Project READ staff.

We are incredibly proud of all our graduates; their hard work and perseverance have paid off. The Library has additional scholarships available for those interested. If you know an adult in the community who could benefit from this valuable program, please contact Project READ staff at (650) 780-7077 or by email to rclread@redwoodcity.org

UNITED AGAINST HATE WEEK

It's United Against Hate Week — a time to stand together against bias and build understanding through connection and conversation. Events are happening across the community and include an introduction to the ballroom scene, an open mic at Cañada College, a unity walk and more. Programming is supported by Welcoming Redwood City and community partners.
