October 2, 2026

October 2026 has officially been proclaimed Local Chamber of Commerce Month in Pennsylvania! We are honored to celebrate this recognition and the important role Chambers of Commerce play in strengthening businesses and communities across the Commonwealth.

Governor Josh Shapiro’s proclamation recognizes local Chambers as a vital resource for Pennsylvania businesses and acknowledges their contributions to economic growth and community success.

A Chamber of Commerce is more than a place to network. Chambers connect businesses, provide valuable resources and educational opportunities, advocate for the business community, encourage collaboration, and help create an environment where local businesses can grow and thrive.

Here in our community, we are proud to work alongside local businesses, organizations, and community leaders to create opportunities, build relationships, and support continued economic development.

Local businesses are the heart of our community, and a strong business community creates a stronger community for everyone.

We are grateful to our members, partners, volunteers, and supporters who make this work possible. Happy Local Chamber of Commerce Month!

Pennsylvania Attorney General Puts Businesses with Skill Games on Notice, Threatens Law

Enforcement Action

Brady Doran, Harrisburg ABC 27

September 29, 2026

Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday is putting businesses with skill games on notice and reminding them to remove the games or risk law enforcement action. Earlier this year, the state Supreme Court ruled that the devices were illegal slot machines and set an Oct. 13 deadline for law enforcement to remove them unless the legislature implements regulations. Many Pennsylvania business owners pushed back, saying their businesses will suffer if legislators don’t come up with a plan to regulate and tax them. The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office said Tuesday that business owners who don’t remove skill game devices by October 14 will risk law enforcement action. “We do not want to see searches and seizures at storefronts or bar, social club and restaurant establishments — we would much rather business owners and social clubs comply with the law and take steps to get these illegal devices out of their places of business,” Sunday said. While the deadline is set, action from the Pennsylvania legislature within the next two weeks could result in changes.

The 2026 Races That Could Decide Control of the Pennsylvania House and Senate

Stephen Caruso, Spotlight PA

September 27, 2026

Control of the Pennsylvania General Assembly is on the ballot in 2026, and a handful of seats will likely decide who has the power to help set policy in the Keystone State. Republicans have held the state Senate almost continuously for 45 years and hope to keep it that way come November. Democrats see a path to take the upper chamber while maintaining the narrow state House majority they won in 2022. The biggest battlegrounds include perennial targets where strong incumbents have hung on in districts trending away from their parties; hotly contested open seats in purple areas; and two races in which unlikely Democratic incumbents are trying to hold on after winning special elections. If historic trends hold, this year should favor Democrats. The party that does not control the presidency usually does well in midterm elections, and at least one nonpartisan forecaster argues Pennsylvania Democrats have their best shot in recent memory at winning a vaunted trifecta — meaning control of the governorship and both legislative chambers.

Did you know........

Small businesses represent the largest segment by number of most local chamber membership rolls. Results in the research study by The Shapiro Group, Inc. and Market Street indicate the impact of local chamber membership on small businesses is very powerful. If a consumer knows a small business is a member of its local chamber, the business enjoys a 44 percent increase in its consumer favorability rating, a 51 percent increase in consumer awareness, a 57 percent increase in its local reputation and a 63 percent increase in the likelihood that consumers will patronize the business in the future.

Research indicates that chamber membership stimulates business-to-business commerce in the local community. Other businesses in town are more likely to do business with you and your company if you are a member of the local chamber. Because a major part of a small business typically comes from business-to-business services, it is essential to maintain a positive standing within the local business community.
