Build Health Literacy Through Action

Help put health literacy awareness into action during Health Literacy Month. This month of international observance highlights the work of integrating and expanding the mission of health literacy toward health equity, so everyone has access to high-quality care to achieve positive health outcomes. A radiographer's role in health literacy is to educate patients, improve communication, and ensure patient understanding of medical imaging procedures and their implications, thereby enhancing patient safety, the quality of exams, and health outcomes. This involves identifying patients with limited health literacy and educating themselves on health literacy principles, as well as the many aspects of informed care and patient interactions and management in medical imaging.
