💛💙Celebrating Down Syndrome Awareness Month💛💙

October 1, 2025

A Note from NADS' Executive Director

On behalf of the National Association for Down Syndrome, I would like to thank you for supporting our 20th Annual Fashion Show: “Platinum Premier Runway of Dreams Fashion Show.

We are so proud to be the first and oldest Down syndrome organization in the country and happy to be providing complimentary programs, resources and services for individuals with Down syndrome and their families since 1961!

As we are approaching our 65th year of service, we take pride in our mission: "to ensure that all persons with Down syndrome have the opportunity to achieve their full potential in all aspects of community life"! Our annual Fashion Show fundraiser showcases each of our models fulfilling their lives!

I am excited to share that this year we had our largest event yet! There were 68 models ranging from the ages of birth to 72 years old and a total of 700 attendees. Organizing this event is never an easy task, but with the amount of creativity, enthusiasm, and passion that went into it, all the guests were able to experience and embrace the love and level of commitment in every piece of the show!

A huge THANK YOU to our Fashion Show Coordinators, Candie Schwaner and Blair Covino; to Ann Leonard and our Raffle/Auction Basket Assembling Team; to the NADS Staff — Anne Reinertson, Jessica Mark, Deb Kracik, and Blair Covino — for their continued hard work; and to the NADS Board of Directors for their time, effort, and generous contributions.

Special thanks to ABC7 News and anchor Mark Rivera, who was the emcee of our event, Visual Image Photography, for capturing all the memorable moments of the day, Center Stage Dancers for their amazing performances and Bridget Brown who entertained us on piano.

Most of all, we would like to thank all of our members, models, families, friends, volunteers, and sponsors that have come together to support the Down syndrome community and made the day a HUGE success! Without you, none of this would be possible!
