Liver Cancer Awareness Month
October is Liver Cancer Awareness Month! To celebrate Liver Cancer Awareness Month, follow Liver Cancer Connect on Facebook and Twitter for information on liver cancer throughout the month. Also, talk to your doctor about the  risk factors  for liver cancer and ask to get screened for both liver cancer and hepatitis B. Share Your Hep B Story: #justB Storytelling Workshop
NVHR   believes that people living with hepatitis B and C should be at the forefront of viral hepatitis education and advocacy. The  Hepatitis B Foundation (HBF)   has taken a leadership role in this by developing the  #justB project , a powerful national storybank featuring people living with hepatitis B who put a human face on a serious disease. 

Join NVHR and HBF for a webinar on  Wednesday, October 11, 2017  from  3:00 PM to 4:00 PM EDT  to learn more about this project and to hear from three hepatitis B patients who bravely tell their stories to decrease stigma and discrimination and promote testing, immunization and treatment. Learn how you can support and spread the word about this project and how you might incorporate some of the components into your own hepatitis B and/or hepatitis C programs.

Using Social Network Analysis to Evaluate Your Hep B Coalition: Join us for a Webinar on Thursday, Sept 21 from 3:00PM - 4:00PM
Join representatives from  Hepatitis B Foundation ,  CDC's Division of Viral Hepatitis , and  NASTAD (the National Alliance of State and Territorial Aids Directors)  for a twitter chat on Thursday  October 12  at  2 p.m. EDT  using the hashtag  #liverchat .

Also participating are special guests  Katherine McGlynn, PhD  of the National Cancer Institute.

Dr. McGlynn is a Senior Investigator at the National Cancer Institute, Division of Cancer Epidemiology & Genetics, Metabolic Epidemiology Branch. She is a researcher and expert in hepatocellular carcinoma.

October's feature video   shares Dai's story. Dai dedicated her life to caring for her severely ill father for three years. She made sure he took his meds, went with him to doctor’s appointments, and sought support for him in the Vietnamese community. While Dai regrets that so little information about hepatitis B and liver cancer were available in her area, even within her own profession in public health, she feels lucky to have been able to spend time with her father before his death.
During 2017, we are highlighting a unique patient story each month. Our #justB Storytelling Campaign is a national effort to bring individuals affected by hepatitis B to share their stories to shed light on this serious disease, decrease stigma, discrimination, and promote the importance of testing and treatment for hepatitis B. If you want to host a screening of the videos, we can help!
