🚗⚠️ October is Pedestrian Safety Month — and drivers play a huge role in keeping our roads safe.
Here’s how YOU can help protect the most vulnerable road users:
🚸 Slowdown in neighborhoods, school zones, and anywhere people walk.
👀 Stay alert — put the phone down and watch for people crossing. Your attention and patience can literally save lives.
🚦 Yield to pedestrians at crosswalks — it’s the law!
🌙 Be extra cautious at night — pedestrians can be hard to see.
🚶 Pedestrians need to do their part, too, by wearing bright clothing or reflective gear so they can be seen.
🦺 West Hartford residents can get a free Vision Zero reflective vest and armband while supplies last. Stop by Room 312 of Town Hall, 9 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. For more information, call 860-561-7521.
