Hey kiddos! Join us for STEM fun on Oct 8!
Did you know? The Library now offers monthly Saturday STEM learning sessions for children: STEM Club for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade, and STEM Club Jr. for kids ages 3-5 (and their grown-ups). STEM/STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.

Each session will focus on a different topic and will include stories and hands-on experimentation/challenges. Kids might get a little messy, so dress accordingly!

Next up? Exploring Colors (STEM Club Jr.) and Space Alien Invasion (STEM Club) on Saturday, October 8. STEM Club Jr. meets at 10 a.m., and STEM Club meets at 1 p.m.

BONUS Storytime: Meet the NKCFD!
Join us for a special *bonus* Storytime on Monday, October 10, at 10 a.m., when we'll welcome the North Kansas City Fire Department for a special Fire Prevention Week visit!

Our local NKC fire fighters will be on hand to read stories, talk about fire safety, and show us some of their equipment and their truck. No registration required!
BONUS Storytime: Halloween Fun Edition!
And join us for ANOTHER fun and festive bonus Halloween Storytime here at NKCPL on Monday, October 31, at 10 a.m. Kiddos are invited to wear their costumes!

We'll play games, sing songs, read books, and make a special Halloween craft. No registration required for this spooktacular-ly special Storytime!

And just a reminder! NKCPL offers a full slate of regular weekly Storytimes! While kiddos of all ages are welcome at Storytime, these sessions are especially geared toward preschool-aged littles. No registration required!

Join us on Tuesdays @ 5:30 p.m. and Wednesdays @ 10 a.m. for Pre-k Storytime. These sessions include read-alouds, songs/movement, and a super-simple craft/activity.

We also offer a Sensory Storytime on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month at 10 a.m. These sessions, geared toward neurodiverse pre-k-aged kiddos, feature fun read-alouds and lots of sensory play.

'Tis the season for Halloween crafting!

Join us at the Library for some all-ages-welcome craft classes this month! First up, we're making some sweet macrame ghosts, which come together fast and can be made to any size. Register here for DIY Macrame Ghosts on Tuesday, October 18, at 7 p.m.

Then join us on Monday, October 24, at 6 p.m., to make some DIY Creepy Doll Head Succulent Planters. These *festive* pieces are sure to give you the shivers all Halloween season long! Register here for this one (if you dare!).

These classes are free and open to the public, and crafters of all ages are welcome. Supplies are provided!
October Movie Night Fun: Hocus Pocus!
This month, join us for another family movie night at NKCPL! Drop in on Thursday, October 27, at 6 p.m., for a showing of Hocus Pocus (rated PG). BYO snacks, and/or plan to enjoy some yummy popcorn while you’re here. We’ll be in the Meeting Room on the building’s lower level.

Registration for this event is welcome but not required.

Volunteer Sewing Opportunity: Make a Fidget Quilt w/ Northcare Hospice House
Heads up about a new opportunity to do some volunteer sewing, too!

Join us on Friday, October 28, at 10:30 a.m., to make a fidget quilt--also known as a busy blanket--for the benefit of persons with Alzheimer's. This class is offered in partnership with Northcare Hospice House.
