Walktober

PeaceHealth is pleased to join Lane Council of Governments and other regional partners in promoting Walktober — a month of walks in Lane County.

Heart Walk & Talk

A free monthly walking group led by the heart-health experts at Oregon Heart & Vascular Institute meets 3:30-4:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month. Mark your calendar to join us next month on the path behind the emergency department at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.

Strides for Social Justice

This guided walk focused on Black history and life in Eugene will be on Sunday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to noon. It will follow the downtown route of the free Strides for Social Justice app that PeaceHealth developed with Eugene Marathon. The route starts at Alton Baker Park, where Lane County’s first African-American community once stood, and makes multiple stops in the city center, ending at the Eugene Depot. Meet at Alton Baker Park at the base of the DeFazio bike bridge.

Free Diabetes Support Group

Mark your calendar to join this group for people with diabetes and their support persons from 5-6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month at Oregon Heart & Vascular Institute’s demonstration kitchen in Springfield. For questions or to sign up, email [email protected]

Stroke Support Group

Life after a stroke isn't easy. Talking to others who have been through a stroke may help. Mark your calendar to join one or both of the support groups offered by PeaceHealth:

  • First Wednesday of every month. This meeting offers various speakers and an opportunity to connect with other stroke survivors. 2-3:30 p.m. The group meets in person.

  • Third Wednesday of every month. A social support meeting to share stories by stroke survivors and caregivers. 10:30 a.m.-noon. Currently, meeting virtually.

If you would like more details or to be added to the email list, please contact Victoria Moran at [email protected] or call 541-222-8461.
