Leaders Converge to Discuss American 'Nightmare'
This November, national and local leaders will gather in Rochester to discuss a challenge identified by Martin Luther King, Jr., that still plagues the United States: the ever-present link between poverty, racism, and violence that oppresses people in our communities. Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Michael Bruce Curry and Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren will join a group of other civic and religious leaders in addition to youth from Teen Empowerment to explore concrete ways to support people traumatized by these forces. "Common Ground: An Islamic Perspective"
The second of a three-part discussion series will take place Wed., Oct. 19 at 7 pm at Calvary Episcopal Church (20 Milton St., Williamsville). Participants will explore the spiritual foundation for peaceful dialogue and its challenges from the perspective of the Koran, and the local experience of Muslims in our community. Come for coffee and dessert at 6:30 pm.
EYE 2017 - in Oklahoma on July 10-14, 2017!
Now is the time to plan for EYE 2017.  This gives our young people time to hold fundraisers and apply for grants to be able to get out to Oklahoma in July.  It also allows time for chaperones to arrange for time off to accompany the youth. Read the whole article.
