CHAMBER UPDATES | SEPTEMBER 29, 2022

Chamber Leaders-
October is the month where pumpkin patches thrive, major league teams finish their post-season runs and it's when leaf raking becomes part of our weekend routines. The weather is noticeably different this week, and those I've talked with the last couple of days are consistently bringing it up, along with the Bengals' win on Sunday and the Reds season nearly put to bed.
I've mentioned working ON your business several times to our members and have helped several of you over the last couple of years. As we move into the final quarter of the year, many businesses consider budgets for the next year, they consider strategic planning initiatives, and if time allows, they slow down a bit as the holiday season approaches. Working on your business, not just in your business suggests, but does not guarantee long-term success.
Part of having a roadmap for your business is understanding outside forces. On Tuesday October 18th, the Colerain Chamber will be hosting a Community Leadership Breakfast. If you attend, you will hear from the following:
•Jeff Weckbach - New Colerain Township Administrator - Don't you want to know what's coming from the township perspective and get to meet our new township leader in person?
•Darrell Yater - NWLSD School Superintendent - As you likely know, there is a school tax levy on the upcoming ballot. Wouldn't it be good to know what's going on with that, our school programs and get the answers to your questions first-hand?
•Cindy Abrams - 29th District State Representative - What's new in Columbus you ask? I'm sure Cindy will have plenty to share.
•Marni Durham - Assistant Superintendent of Butler Tech - Are you interest to hear how Bulter Tech helps meet employers needs today? I'm sure she'll have some insights into how they make it happen.
•Dave Moravec - Yes, I will provide an update on what's going on across the business community from my perspective too.
In addition to the Leadership Breakfast, the White Oak Athletic Association will be hosting our Third Thursday After-Hours networking event at historic Haubner Field on the 20th . This will give all of us a look into the future as they begin their expansion project. Then on Saturday October 22nd, my wife Patti and I will be leading a group of volunteers in this year's Colerain Community Giveback Day; we anticipate over 200 volunteers again. There is still plenty of time for you to sign up to join our group (or another of your choice) or for you to pull together a group of your own; 6-10 people including youth are needed for each group. You and/or your company can make a difference at the home of a family in need, a senior unable to help themselves, or to support a service veteran needing a hand or two with a project that wouldn't otherwise get done.
We recognize so many partnerships across the community throughout the year, but Colerain Township, People Working Cooperatively and organizations that want to give back are extremely visible this season. If you are unable to volunteer but want to support in a different way, there are ways to do that too.
Have a terrific day, week, and month of October!
Dave
