Our Wells Fargo Wagon at the Kelseyville Pear Festival Parade

On September 24th, Ely Stage Stop joined the parade with our Wells Fargo Wagon pulled by a team of sturdy, but rather stiff, steeds. The view from the wagon was expansive!

Dear Friends of Ely Stage Stop,

Autumn officially, and finally, arrived on September 22nd.

We appreciate all of you who return each month for Fiddler's Jam.  We would like to extend our heart-felt appreciation for the members of The California Old Time Fiddler's Association who entertain us each month!

Please join us once again in the barn for timeless tunes at the October 2nd Fiddler's Jam. Enjoy your purchase of fresh-cooked hot dogs and hamburgers, and pumpkin pie ~ Yum!

Bring your entire family. See you soon! Gate opens at 11 AM. The music starts at 12 PM.

Lake County Pears

Many varieties of pears are grown here (among them, the buttery, sweet Comice and the popular dessert pear, Bosc) but it’s the Bartlett that’s helped us achieve pear growing fame.

The Bartlett variety of pear was first cultivated in England in the late 18th century. In 1817, Enoch Bartlett of Massachusetts began growing and distributing the pear using his name.

Pears were picked and washed by hand, sliced and cored by hand, and placed on large, wooden drying racks. The racks were moved into the drying yard to cure the fruit before being packed by hand and shipped to market.
