Deck the Walls

We're honored collaborators! CBF is stoked that our expertise was invited to the process of beautifying the ramp wall in front of the Bosler Memorial Library. It's all part of celebrating 125 years of Bosler's service to the community of Carlisle.

Artist Micah Davis-Culbertson, a WAM! comics illustrator and Bosler Memorial Library employee, is being mentored by Chad Bruce himself.

When Chad agreed to support Micah for her first mural, Bosler Memorial Library generously gave Charles Bruce Foundation the end space for our mascot. Voila! WAM! The Spaceman.

This mural is a re-vision of another mural created all the way back in 1961 by twenty-six members of the Carlisle Arts Association. The mural was much beloved by the children who would see it. Many of those young people - now book-loving adults - ask whimsically about the pictures that lined the stairwell to the old children's section of the original library building. Although the old mural still exists, changes in the library make the stairwell inaccessible. We are pleased to bring art back into public view!

Early Spring

She's back! We've been a little dormant on the Bonnie Tweedy Shaw front, but hang tight, loved ones.

When spring comes around, bringing gorgeous little critters and splashes of color, you'll get an opportunity to expand your BTS library! Here's a preview of the colorful fun coming in 2026, with a sneak peek at TWO of the illustrations featured in TWO of her upcoming books!

Gay Tweedy, (yes the sister of the prolific illustrator who has herself delighted spectators as the artist in residence at the Village Artisans Gallery), and Bonnie Berk are joining the Charles Bruce Foundation stable of authors.

What a trippy coincidence! One author bears the illustrator's first name and the other bears her last.

Bonnie Berk is a talented musician who will host a "Harp for Healing" program at Bosler Memorial Library. Look for details on her educational offering or other great programming for the fall by clicking the button below.

In Passing

We at the Charles Bruce Foundation are deeply saddened by the passing of former board member Matthew A. Robinson.

Matthew was a dear friend, gifted baritone, inspiring teacher, and devoted community volunteer. His legacy will live on in all who knew him.

We invite you to honor Matthew by listening to this wonderful young man sing. Just click on his image to the right or the button below. These vocals were recorded one Sunday in March when he shared his talent and gift of music with Unitarian Universalists of the Cumberland Valley. The video was lovingly compiled by CBF board member, Max Donnelly.
