Off-Premise Retailers Reflect on 2020 Trends, Challenges

The speed at which consumers transitioned most of their alcohol purchases to the off-premise during COVID-19 made for a massive learning curve for retailers. Mark Watch spoke to retailers around the country to hear how their businesses adapted, the brands that flew off the shelves, and what they expect in the coming year. 

“There was such a rapid shift in how consumers changed their shopping patterns,” says Dustin Mitzel, CEO of Happy Harry’s Bottle Shops in North Dakota. “It will take years for some things to get back into relative normalcy, and other things will forever be changed.”
