Regarding God's Creation
Gen 7:19  The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains  everywhere under the heavens  were covered. ... 8:4  In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat. 5 The water decreased steadily until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains became visible.   - NASU       (Bold emphasis added.)

Off the Ark Into a Strange New World

When the people and animals got of the Ark they encountered a completely new world.  Scripture does not tell us a lot about that world or what happened there. In Gen 8:13 through 9:17 scripture does tell us  (here in the briefest outline) that Noah built an altar and
performed sacrificial worship. God promised that there would not be a flood like that again, commanded they be fruitful an fill the Earth, and gave permission to now eat flesh as well as green plants with the restriction that the blood of life must be removed first. Then the rainbow was given as a reminder of God's covenant. Then in 9:20 we are told that Noah began to farm. But apparently surprised by everything
in the new environment, he got drunk and was involved in some vague but undesirable interactions. Then Ch 10 provides a record of descendants leading up to the Tower of Babel event in Ch 11. The population at the time of Babel might have been somewhere in the range of hundreds of thousands and tens of millions.

But Scripture does not tell us much about
the environment after the Flood that Noah, his family, and animals had to deal with. However, we have seen considerable information about what generated that environment so it is worth a quick summary.

Our YEC hypothesis suggests that the preflood created world and biome was completely ripped up by the catastrophic surges of a worldwide flood driven by Catastrophic Plate Tectonics moving the continental plates around with the Pangea configuration occurring somewhere around midpoint in
the process. Circulating mantle pushed mid-ocean ridges up displacing seawater over the continents and accelerating plate subduction. Stick-slip action in the subduction zones generated catastrophic tidal surges while it accelerated mountain building above them like the Sierra Nevada and the Cascades. Collisions between continental plates generated mountains like the Appalachians. In this process the entire
biome and likely a thousand feet of rock layers were ripped up and redeposited far from their original locations. This redistribution is responsible for the distribution of the rock layers in the current megasequences and the fossil distribution and isotope distribution in those rock layers. Of particular note is the fast decaying C-14 found at all levels in
these rock layers. At all levels marine fossils dominate over terrestrial fossils, even in dinosaur beds. The vast layers of cross bedded sandstone contain numerous indicators of underwater sand waves. The vast layers of mudrocks are being shown to deposit far more rapidly than previously thought.

As the gravitational potential energy driving
these processes was dissipated, all of these processes slowed. The midocean ridges subsided as did the subduction rates and the world scale flood waters began to runoff in sheets on a continental scale. This mega sheet erosion produced continental scale planation surfaces, escarpments, and continental shelves. Somewhat later sheet flow would become channelized. On more localized regions mountain rose more, fault blocks fell or tilted over, and giant valleys were filled with erosion from surrounding regions. As we saw last month, Mike Oard makes a strong case that the land forms we see today were formed in in the receding phase of the Flood. It is worth viewing the Flood Geology Series here.

What life would survive all of this? Aquatic
life, microorganisms, and many plants. Plants have an amazing ability to be regenerated from a few cells, leaf cutting, stem cuttings, as well as the crown of the plant. We can also expect that large floating log mats driven by wind and water currents would be drifting about.  So it is reasonable to expect there were many plant fragments beginning to sprout and grow as Noah faced this strange new world.

On June 6th we will present another Mike Oard presentation on the world following the Flood. The end of the Flood is a perfect setup for an ice age! The end of the Flood conditions solves may problems that the uniformitarians have with starting an ice age that will later end. But also, this ice age explains many evidences in animal and fossil distributions the conventional ice age theories have great difficulty with. In fact it would provide mild wet environments in the normally hot dry regions where the occupants of the Ark would need to multiply and begin filling the Earth. Join us for this presentation, you will be sure to be amazed. We will stop for question and discussion as we go along

Examples of Important YEC Scientific Evidences

Some major examples of physical evidence we point to include:
  • Remains of original soft tissue still found in dinosaur bones. Along with that tissue is C-14 that would decay completely away in less than a hundred thousand years, a tiny fraction of the dinosaur fossil's supposed age.
  • For many years geologists have found C-14 in fossil carbon throughout the fossil record. So, the entire fossil record is less than 100,000 years old.
  • The origin of the information and molecular machinery in the first living self-reproducing cell remains a complete enigma for biologist and biochemists.
  • In the origin of the universe, big bang theory is being recognized as a dead end by increasing numbers of secular scientists. The hypothesized inflation has nothing to start it, drive it forward, or stop it. Without inflation fatal flaws appear with the absence of predicted antimatter, magnetic monopoles, or any means for the whole universe to come to the same precise background temperature. Then the formation of the first stars is as enigmatic as the origin of the first biological cell. Dark matter and dark energy are as enigmatic as the galactic motions they are needed to explain.
At the root of all standard science are many assumptions that may be quite incorrect. At the top is that there is no God. Another is that present process can be used to explain everything in the past. When we look at a canyon we are taught to assume the river at the bottom cut the canyon. But perhaps tectonic events made the canyon and there is a river at the bottom because water always flows downhill. At the root of big bang theory is a pure assumption that has been named the "Cosmological Principle". Perhaps inaccuracies there are responsible for the big bang's multitude of problems.

There is more about the role of assumptions in science found on our website here. There are many more resources on young earth and young universe evidences here.
