A message from the Clerk...
As we step into Fall, I look back at the great progress we’ve made this summer. I’m proud to announce that since July we have hired 92 new employees, promoted 122 employees and transferred 17 employees to new positions.
I’m also excited to announce that we are collaborating with Chief Judge Timothy Evans’s office on the reestablished Domestic Violence Court Committee, which outlined plans to improve technology and expand staff to provide increased access to the court.
Our Office is prepared to staff the pilot program where petitions for Emergency Orders of Protection will be heard remotely Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in accordance with the general administrative order from the Office of the Chief Judge.

Clerk’s Office Enjoys a Strong Turnout at Bud Billiken
|
|
On Saturday, August 13th, Clerk’s Office staff, family, and friends participated in The Bud Billiken Parade, which is held annually on the second Saturday in August. Robert S. Abbott, the founder of the Chicago Defender, established the premier back-to-school parade in 1926 and named it Bud Billiken after a figurine he kept on his desk to serve as the guardian angel of the city’s youth.
The Bud Billiken Parade is the most prominent African American parade in the country and one of Chicago's premier back-to-school events. The parade route takes place on King Drive, from 35th St. to Washington Park, traveling through the historic Bronzeville community. The annual event is a chance for kids, family, and friends to come together to celebrate before the new school year starts. It also provides students a chance to be in the spotlight. Appreciation is extended to all volunteers, AAEC committee members, DJ Samuel Williams, and photographers Elizabeth Smith and Dana L. Jackson, who all helped make this year’s Clerk of the Circuit Court's Office participation in the Bud Billiken parade a huge success.

Every year from September 15 to October 15, Americans celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month by appreciating the community’s history, heritage, and contributions of the ancestors of American citizens who came from Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean, and South, and Central America.
Hispanic Heritage Month originally started with one week of commemoration when it was first introduced by Congressman George E. Brown in June 1968. With the civil rights movement, the need to recognize the contributions of the Latin community gained traction in the 1960s. Awareness of the multicultural groups living in the United States was also gradually growing.
