NOW is the best time to prepare!

The City is committed to ensuring the safety and preparedness of our residents during any storm. But it's crucial for BOTH our new and longtime residents to take action early in the season.

By taking proactive steps, you can minimize the impact of a significant storm, protect our community and even save lives.

Our goal is to minimize the stress of last-minute preparations so you have peace of mind throughout the season and in event of a storm.

Meet the City's Emergency Manager

Listen to a few key reminders from the City's Emergency Manager, Manuel Rodriguez, on how to be ready to handle any storm that heads our way. With your efforts and the City's year-round preparations, we can all have a safer season.

3 Key Steps for Every Resident

Our hurricane preparedness plan is designed to be simple and effective. The City's downloadable Hurricane Guide provides you with the need-to-know information clearly broken down so you can easily tackle each step with confidence.

Throughout the year, City staff members from every department work hard to plan for severe storms and hurricanes. Things they do to prepare...

  • Tree trimming in City parks and public places reduces the potential for falling vegetation, clogged drains, and keeps branches away from powerlines.
  • Point of distribution exercises allowed City staff members to rehearse a situation where food or water distribution for the community would be necessary.
  • Drainage improvement projects throughout the year are completed in areas where water tends to collect.

Boca Raton is the Only StormReady Certified City in the County

As a StormReady City, Boca Raton is better prepared to save lives and prevent damage from severe weather through advanced planning, education, and awareness. The City is the ONLY municipality in Palm Beach County to earn the certification from the National Weather Service.
