Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) to Open at Glades Rd & I-95

During the weekend of January 27, 2023, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), will convert the existing SR-808/Glades Road and I-95 interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange. Here is all you need to know about the new traffic pattern.

Please Note: This project is part of FDOT's I-95 Express Lanes Phase 3B-2 project.

What is a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI)?

A Diverging Diamond Interchange or DDI is a type of interchange that allows the two directions of traffic on the roadway to temporarily cross to the opposite side of the road. Per FDOT, the new interchange will help provide the following:

  • Safer access to and from I-95
  • Alleviation of traffic delays and congestion
  • Reduction in crashes at the interchange by a projected 33%
  • Improvement of future traffic demand, mobility and efficiency for all users

To get a better idea of how the DDI works and the new traffic pattern, please view the video.

When will the DDI be implemented?

Implementation of the DDI will take place Friday, January 27 through Monday, January 30. Please note that ALL ACCESS to and from SR-808/Glades Road at I-95 will be CLOSED that weekend.

SR-808/Glades Road at I-95 will REOPEN to traffic in the new DDI configuration on Monday, January 30 at 6am. Here are some DO's and DON'Ts when navigating through the new interchange.
