Be Prepared Boca Pets!
Sometimes disasters can be "ruff", but if you prepare beforehand, they don't have to be. If you are a pet owner, it is important that you consider their needs when developing your disaster plan.
-
If you evacuate your home, do not leave your pets behind.
-
If you are planning on staying in a shelter, make sure to drop off your pet at one of Palm Beach County's pet-friendly shelters.
- If you are planning on evacuating, make sure to take your pets with you and have a portable pet disaster supplies kit.

Heads Up Boca!
Crosswalk Flags on A1A
New! Bright colored flags are now available at the pedestrian crossings along A1A. Part of a pilot program, the flags are held in containers at each of the crosswalks, and help making crossing the road safer.
Plus, they are easy to use:
-
When looking to cross the road, press the button to activate the lights.
- Take one of the crosswalk flags and carry while crossing, placing it back in the container at the other end.
-
Remember to stay safe by ONLY cross at designated crosswalks.
The flags make pedestrians more visible to drivers, and also alert drivers that pedestrians are waiting to cross the road. Improving pedestrian and bicyclist safety and mobility is a top priority for the City to achieve our Vision Zero goal. Staff will monitor the effectiveness of this program and determine any future locations.

Work in Progress - Restoring Native Plants at Beach Parks
You may be noticing work at Red Reef and South Beach parks to remove exotic invasive plants as part of the City’s partnership with the Institute for Regional Conservation.
Invasive exotic plants, which often started as ornamental garden plants, spread quickly and replace native species in the habitat. Removing them allows for an increase in biodiversity (the number of species) in our coastal habitats as native plants move back in. Check out the Beach Sustainability page for more information or email sustainability@myboca.us.
