Heads Up Boca! Thanksgiving Safety

Have a safe and stress-free holiday with these tips from Boca Raton Fire Rescue:

  • Make sure all smoke alarms are working.
  • Don’t leave your food unattended on the stove or in the oven (#1 cause of fires!)
  • Move anything that can catch fire — oven mitts, towels, etc. — away from stove top.
  • Store fire extinguishers in plain sight.
  • Frying a turkey? Do it outside at least 10 ft away from your house, do not overfill the pot with oil, and make sure turkey is completely thawed and dry beforehand (find out why).
  • Never put water on a grease fire.
