Heads Up Boca! Thanksgiving Safety
For an accident-free holiday, follow these Thanksgiving fire safety tips and stay protected while you enjoy your meal.
- Make sure all smoke alarms are working.
-
Don’t leave your food unattended on the stove or in the oven (#1 cause of fires!)
- Move anything that can catch fire — oven mitts, towels, etc. — away from stove top.
- If frying a turkey:
- Do it outside, at least 10 feet away from your house
- Do not overfill pot with oil
-
Make sure turkey is completely thawed and dry beforehand (find out why)
- Never put water on a grease fire.
- Store fire extinguishers in plain sight.
