Water System Disinfection Program & Fire Hydrant Flushing Begins July 9

To maintain the City's high-quality water system, Utility Services will temporarily modify the disinfection process used by the water treatment facility starting Sunday, July 9 through Sunday, July 23. Customers may notice a slight chlorine taste or odor in the tap water during this time. Fire hydrants will be flushed during this time as well. Customers may notice flowing water in streets and swales, localized lower water pressures, and a slight discoloration of their tap water.

For more information on this process, please visit Utility Services or call 561-338-7310.

Know Your Drinking Water

The City's Utility Services Department recently published the 2022 Drinking Water Quality Report (posted by July 1, yearly), which provides a comprehensive summary of water quality tests required by multiple government agencies.

Having a Summer Garage Sale? You Need a Permit

Now that summer is in full swing, here's a friendly reminder that garage sales in neighborhoods within City limits require residents to obtain a permit.

To get a permit, residents can fill out an application online. Applications will typically be approved by email within 24 hours, Monday - Friday. Homeowners must comply with the garage sale permitting regulations that can be found on the City's website. Contact Code Enforcement at 561-393-7825 or [email protected] for more information.

What's With All the Seaweed?

Our oceans are home to a variety of marine algae, including sargassum seaweed, that you may see on our City beaches. This naturally occurs and floats freely on the ocean’s surface. The sargassum provides a crucial habitat for marine life and is an important element in shoreline stability.

However, over the past few years, South Florida has experienced high levels of sargassum in coastal waters and on local beaches. Maintaining our beaches remains a priority for the City, not only for our marine life, but for our residents and beachgoers.

Safety Message from Fire Rescue

While fireworks are a traditional part of the July 4th celebration, every year people take potentially dangerous risks when they celebrate. Did you know... of the 10,200 fireworks injuries treated in hospital emergency departments, about 73% occurred in the month surrounding the July 4th holiday. (Source: 2022 U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission)

As the holiday weekend approaches, Boca Raton Fire Rescue reminds everyone to enjoy Independence Day in a safe and responsible way!

How to Keep Your Furry Friends Safe This July 4th

While we may enjoy Fourth of July festivities, some of our furry friends may not be so keen. Here are some tips to keep in mind this coming weekend:

  • Keep your pets INSIDE your home
  • Give them a safe, comfortable place to hide
  • Use ambient noise to mask the noise, like TV or radio
  • Update their IDs and microchips (just in case!)
  • Consider staying home with them
  • Keep them busy with treats or toys

Have a Happy 4th with Veterans in Mind

It’s important for loved ones and caregivers to understand that a veteran’s unique experience in situations may be quite different from their own, especially when there’s unpredictability. (Source: AARP)

  • Set off fireworks at a predictable time.
  • Use fireworks that produce little to no noise.
  • Have a small gathering instead of attending a large event.

City FAQ's

City Frequently Asked Questions

Each month, we'll highlight a frequently asked question about City happenings, services and more. This month's FAQ....

Do I live in the City?

Although you have a Boca Raton address, it doesn't necessarily mean you live within the City limits. Some areas with a Boca Raton address are actually part of unincorporated Palm Beach County and serviced by the county, not the City. Check out the City limits map to see if you're within the City's boundaries.
