Be Prepared for Potential Storms

As we officially enter peak hurricane season, don't wait until a storm is here to be prepared. For example, now is the time to Clean & Cut -- trim trees, clean out garages, clear debris and prepare your property. Be sure to check out the City's Be Prepared 2023 Hurricane Guide for important information on how to get prepared, stay safe and stay connected -- before, during and after a storm.

Visit the City's Hurricane Information.

Be Prepared Boca - Plan Ahead

If we can't reach you, we can't alert you...

"Where do my property taxes go?"

City of Boca Raton Strategic Planning 3rd Quarter Update

City Strategic Plan Update

Staff recently provided an update to the City's Strategic Plan, highlighting progress and accomplishments of the four goals Council identified earlier this year, including:

  • Financially Sound City
  • World Class Municipal Services
  • Strong Partnership with the Community
  • Vibrant and Sustainable City

Watch a brief presentation of the update and learn more about the City's Strategic Plans.

'Lois D. Martin Way' Honorary Street Naming

Boca Raton will celebrate a significant community milestone with the dedication of “Lois D. Martin Way”, a portion of Glades Road between Federal Highway and Dixie Highway. Hosted by Developing Interracial Social Change (D.I.S.C), the designation pays tribute to the legacy of Lois D. Martin (1928-2022), a community activist, educator and lifetime resident of Pearl City, the City’s historic black community. The honorary street naming was the result of efforts by D.I.S.C. and the Boca Raton City Council and was voted into law by the Florida Legislature this summer.

The public is invited to attend Saturday, September 23 from 10:30am – 12:00pm.

Mayor Scott Singer at crosswalk

Heads Up Boca...Push It!

Stay safe while using designated crosswalks and be sure to Push It before you cross! A recent study on A1A revealed that 49% of people who use crosswalks DID NOT press the button to activate the flashing lights. The flashing beacons alert drivers to stop before a pedestrian crosses the street.

  • Ready to Cross? Remember to PUSH IT
  • Warning lights are activated once you PUSH IT
  • Drivers are more aware when you PUSH IT
  • Cross only when it’s safe after you PUSH IT

Watch the fun video (with its catchy tune!) and learn more about the City's Vision Zero pledge - achieving no severe traffic injuries or fatalities.

Heat Tips for Walking Your Pup

When the air temperature is 86 degrees, the asphalt temperature registers 135 degrees - according to data reported by the Journal of the American Medical Association.

To find out if the ground is too hot for your dog to walk on, place your hand on the pavement for 10 seconds. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

Did you know?

Skin destruction for dogs can happen in just 60 seconds in 125-degree heat!

Gumbo Limbo Observation Tower

Construction of the new ADA-accessible observation tower on Gumbo Limbo Nature Center's boardwalk has begun! The work will take place along the eastern loop of the boardwalk which will remain closed to ensure the safety of visitors. The project is scheduled to be completed in Spring 2024.

Once complete, the 40-foot observation tower will include:

  • A beautiful panoramic view of the preserved Tropical Hardwood Hammock, the Intracoastal and beaches.
  • An estimated 700-foot ADA-accessible ramp
  • 6-levels of stairs attached to the boardwalk

Meadows Park Playground Renovation is Complete!

Come enjoy colorful slides, play panels, musical flowers, and more! Meadows Park is located at 1300 NW 8th Street, and open every day from 7am - Dusk.
