All Palm Beach County Beaches Closed for 4th of July Weekend
In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 cases in our area, all public and private beaches in Palm Beach County will be closed for the 4th of July weekend beginning Friday, July 3 at 12:01 AM through Sunday, July 5 . Beaches will reopen on Monday July 6 . All beaches and beach parks, including those in the City of Boca Raton will be closed. There will be no parking along A1A or pedestrian beach access during this closure. All barrier island beach parks, Red Reef Golf Course and the Gumbo Limbo boardwalk are closed.

Enjoy a Virtual 4th of July Celebration with "Red, White, & Blue in Boca"
As a result of enhanced safety precautions due to COVID-19, the City's Fabulous 4th Celebration will look a little different this year. The City of Boca Raton Recreation Services Department is hosting  "Red, White, & Blue in Boca," a week-long virtual 4th of July Celebration from June 27 - July 4  on the Boca Raton Recreation social media pages and the  City of Boca Raton’s YouTube Channel .

Throughout the week, several patriotic-themed videos will be posted, including "how-tos," festive craft and game ideas to do at home, backyard grilling tips, recipe and drink tutorials, live music and much more. Due to a recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Palm Beach County and surrounding areas, facial coverings are now mandated while in public with few exceptions. The Emergency Order went into effect on Thursday June 25th and requires facial coverings to be worn in indoor public spaces as well as outdoor public spaces when social distancing cannot be maintained. 

Compliance Team Educating & Inspecting Local Businesses
Palm Beach County has created the COVID Education Compliance Team (CECT) which will work to educate and bring businesses into compliance with state and local enforcement orders required by the governor. Team members will proactively conduct spot inspections of local businesses and public venues, noting where masks are not being worn and/or social distancing is not being consistently practiced.

The team is comprised of representatives from state and local agencies including the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Palm Beach County Code Enforcement and Fire Rescue, the Florida Department of Health-Palm Beach County and local police departments including Boca Raton. Palm Beach County Program Offers Assistance with Mortgage, Rent and Utility Payments
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Palm Beach County is offering several assistance programs to help individuals pay their mortgages, rent and utilities.

CARES Mortgage Assistance Program - The Palm Beach County Department of Housing and Economic Sustainability is providing temporary relief to homeowners for mortgage assistance through August 14, 2020 . Complete the online application .

Rent and Utilities Assistance Program - The Palm Beach County Community Services Department (CSD) is providing a one-time rental and/or utility assistance to eligible Palm Beach County residents who have experienced loss of income, reduction in hours, or unemployment as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds are for applicants who reside in apartments, houses, townhouses, or mobile homes. Learn more...

City Still Accepting Applications for the Small Business Recovery Relief Grant Program
Applications are still being accepted  for the Small Business Recovery Relief Grant Program . The program is intended to provide one-time grants of up to $5,000, to eligible businesses that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic . Interested businesses should review the criteria and apply .
City Approves New Sign Code
After years in the making, the City recently approved a new sign code ordinance that was adopted on May 27. The new sign code allows greater flexibility for signage, uses clear language, streamlines the approval process, consolidates sign regulations into one document and sets more precise standards for signage . Walls Go Up at the New Fire Station 6
Construction is underway on the renovation of Boca Raton Fire Rescue Station 6, located at 1901 Clint Moore Road. The station will include better vehicle storage, separate dormitory facilities, a medical decontamination room, and protective clothing storage. The project is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2020.
Virtual Meetings Continue Through August 1
Governor Ron DeSantis has extended the public meeting order to August 1, 2020 ( Executive Order 20-150 ). What does this mean for City Council meetings?

  • City Council Workshops, CRA Meetings, and City Council Regular Meetings will be virtual through August 1, 2020.
  • Community Appearance Board (CAB) and Planning & Zoning (P&Z) meetings will also be virtual.
  • Other quasi-judicial boards will meet virtually IF there is an item for the board to consider.
  • Advisory boards are not meeting.

This July, our nation celebrates Park and Recreation Month . Mayor Scott Singer signed a proclamation and Boca Raton residents will be able to join each other in a virtual celebration including art contests and family activities.
