City Honored Utility of the Future Today Award

In case you were wondering what happens to the City’s wastewater after flushing….it wins an award! Our Utility Services team members sustainably process the resulting biosolids, enabling them to be used again or sold as environmentally friendly fertilizer. We are one of just a few cities in South Florida to do so. The Utility of the Future Today award is from the Water Environment Federation. Learn more about the process here.

Heads Up Boca! Thanksgiving Safety

For an accident-free holiday, follow these Thanksgiving fire safety tips and stay protected while you enjoy your meal.

  • Make sure all smoke alarms are working.
  • Don’t leave your food unattended on the stove or in the oven (#1 cause of fires!)
  • Move anything that can catch fire — oven mitts, towels, etc. — away from stove top.
  • If frying a turkey:
  • Do it outside, at least 10 feet away from your house
  • Do not overfill pot with oil
  • Make sure turkey is completely thawed and dry beforehand (find out why)
  • Never put water on a grease fire.
  • Store fire extinguishers in plain sight.

Stay safe and enjoy the holiday!
