Brightline/Virgin Trains Station Coming to Boca
The Boca Raton City Council approved a long-term lease with Brightline, soon to be Virgin Trains (VTUSA), with a unanimous 5-0 vote at the December 10 City Council Meeting. The lease agreement includes the construction of a train station and parking garage on a 1.8-acre site near the City’s Downtown Library. Learn more...

If you need another reason to #LoveBocaRaton , you'll be pleased to know that the City is as financially sound as it is beautiful. A recent report by Moody’s Investors Service indicates that the City and its Water & Sewer credit positions both remain rated Aaa, the highest credit rating level. Citing an “exceptionally healthy economy and tax base,” the report went on to say that Boca Raton’s tax base of 29.7 billion is “significantly stronger” than the US median, and that the median family income of city residents is “very strong.”  Learn more...

City Celebrates MLK Jr. Day
Take part in a ceremony and celebration honoring the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. at a Commemorative Ceremony on Monday, January 20. March along Federal Highway from the MLK Jr. Memorial (200 Ruby St) to Mizner Park Amphitheater (590 Plaza Real) at 10am. Brunch, Beats & All That Jazz
Spend your next Sunday, January 12 with brunch, beats and brass at Mizner Park Amphitheater Sunday Jazz Brunch from 11am - 3pm. The event will host brunch food trucks, mimosa and Bloody Mary bars, and funky Jazz tunes for all to enjoy. Sanitation Division Welcomes New City Customers
Beginning in January 2020, about 2,500 customers will be added to the City's sanitation collection routes. Residents whose neighborhoods were annexed into the city in the early 2000s continued to receive contracted services through Waste Management for many years. As a result of the City's commitment to improve and expand the Sanitation Division with additional equipment and staff, these neighborhoods will now be serviced by City employees. ParkMobile App Now Available for Beach Patrons
Metered parking for beach visitors just got a little easier! Be sure to look for the new ParkMobile stickers on our meters. The City is partnering with ParkMobile, a convenient, pay by phone parking application that allows patrons to set up an account and pay for metered spots by entering a zone (space) number. 170 metered parking spots at selected beach areas are being tested in a new pilot program. The City looks to expand the pay by phone option to other metered parking areas later in 2020. Learn more...
Children's Museum Temporarily Closed
In December 2019, the Florence Fuller Child Development Center discussed an operation, ownership and management transition with the City. The Children's Museum temporarily closed in December and will reopen under the operation and management of the City's Recreation Services Department. During the early months of 2020, the City will assess and evaluate the buildings, grounds, programming, exhibits and financial position. The plan is to reopen the Children's Museum in the spring. Drop Off Your Christmas Tree at NEW Recycling Location
Recycle your tree between December 26 - January 19 and you'll help beautify Gumbo Limbo Nature Center with new mulch. Residents can drop off CLEAN trees at the NEW drop-off location at Countess de Hoernle Park maintenance area at the southern end of the parking lot.

Can a Pizza Box Be Recycled? What You "Knead" to Know
To recycle or not to recycle? When it comes to greasy pizza boxes, do not recycle. Grease and oil are two of the worst contaminants in paper recycling. Any parts of a pizza box that are greasy or soiled should be put in the trash. If you'd like another option, try composting! Find out what else can and can't be recycled at Sanitation Services.
