Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for voting in the 2025 Coordinated Election. Last Friday, we officially certified the results of the election, marking its successful conclusion.

This election was one for the books. Denver voters reached a turnout of 39.23% which is one of the highest for an off cycle coordinated election I’ve seen since being your clerk.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the 588 election judges who served during this election who properly processed and counted the 192,658 ballots cast. My thanks also go to our dedicated staff, whose planning, expertise, and behind the scenes work made this election smooth, secure, and accessible.

This election season also brought unexpected challenges. While administering the 2025 Coordinated Election, my team and I were simultaneously fighting for the full restoration of the Denver Clerk & Recorder’s budget for the 2026 elections after the mayor's initial proposal cut our funding by $4.5 million. This shortfall would have jeopardized our ability to run two high profile elections as well as voter’s access to the ballot box in at such a crucial time for elections in our country.

After months of public advocacy, the Denver City Council voted unanimously on November 3rd to restore an additional $2.7 million to our budget citing the importance of independently ran elections. While this is $1 million short of what we originally requested, I am confident that this, combined with our own voluntarily budget cuts ensures we have the sufficient resources necessary to successfully administer both the 2026 State Primary and 2026 General Midterm elections.

Please take the time to also thank the members of the Denver City Council, for standing in solidarity for democracy and for the voters of our city.

As we close out the 2025 Coordinated Election, our team has already begun preparing for next year’s election which be pivotal moments for the country. One thing remains constant in every election cycle: your participation. Our democracy is counting on you.

In solidarity,

Hon. Paul D. López

2025 Coordinated Election Results Certified

On Nov. 21, Denver Elections staff completed the canvass and certification of the 2025 Coordinated Election, officially bringing the Nov. 4 election to a close.

The canvass is a post-election process that compares the number of votes recorded in the statewide registration system with the number of ballots counted in Denver’s tabulation system. With the completion of the canvass and certification, the 2025 Coordinated Election is now complete, and all results are final and official.

Post Election – Risk Limiting Audit (RLA)

Denver Elections Division conducted a successful post-election Risk-Limiting Audit (RLA) on Nov. 18, 2025. Our team audited 213 ballot cards this RLA, and all were confirmed accurate with zero discrepancies. This post-election audit helps verify that the equipment and procedures used to count votes functioned correctly and that the election produced accurate outcomes.

Denver Voters Approve Changes to At-Large Council Seats with Passage of 2G

Denver voters approved Referred Question 2G, which changes the City Council At-Large office into two separate seats called City Council At-Large A and City Council At-Large B beginning in the 2027 election. This process is administered by the Denver Clerk & Recorder’s office. Candidates who previously filed to run At-Large must submit an updated affidavit choosing which seat they want to run for. All campaign finance and petition rules stay the same.

GOAT Award: Lina Ramirez

This month, the Employee Engagement Committee is proud to recognize Lina Ramirez, Administrative Support Assistant, as this month's GOAT! The following was included in Lina's nomination:

“Lina works hard to ensure that every constituent has an amazing experience during their marriage appointment. She even helps them take photos and video of their appointment when requested. Her kindness and enthusiasm are a welcome change from what most people expect when they come to a government office. In addition, she tries to help out with any projects or work that needs to be done in the office and never complains. She is an absolute joy to work with on a daily basis!”

Please join us in congratulating Lina! The Denver Clerk & Recorder’s GOAT Award is our version of an Employee of the Month recognition, honoring team members who consistently demonstrate exceptional performance, reliability, dedication to public service and a strong work ethic. Recipients are nominated and selected by their coworkers.
