Accessibility is key to early voting this election season

Dear Constituents,

Last week longtime Globeville resident Severa Casillas Santos cut the ribbon on Denver’s 45th ballot drop-off box. This is the first time Casillas Santos, and her neighbors, have had access to a 24-hour ballot drop-off box in Globeville where she has lived for more than 30 years. Stories like this are the reason why increasing access to secure ballot drop boxes across Denver remains a top priority in my administration. Now all you have to do is simply vote. It’s easy.

This year’s ballot will be the longest in recent Denver history – with three double sided pages. Because of this, I cannot convey how important it is to return your ballot EARLY. Remember, you do not need stamps if you return your ballots via ballot drop box. Take advantage of Denver’s 45 secure ballot drop-off boxes across the city which are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week starting October 11.

There is also great news coming from our Recording & Public Trustee Services team! Recently, our Recording team completed the successful assembly, packing, and move of more than 1,400 boxes of historical records, including items such as contracts, charters, City Council bills and agendas, marriage applications, and dozens of other document types. We have also completed the indexing of approximately 2 million existing City and County of Denver records between the years of 1935 and 1986. These records, previously classified as “historical,” have been reclassified and are now available to the public.

Access is key to increasing the number of ballot drop-off boxes across the city to making important historical documents and records accessible to all Denverites. Let’s continue defending our democracy by participating in a secure, accurate, and ACCESSIBLE election process.

Now let’s vote, Denver!
