The final days of the 2024 General Election are here! As of Monday, Oct. 28, it is too late to mail in your ballot. Instead, drop it at one of our 45 secure drop boxes that are open 24/7 across the city. If you prefer to vote in person, visit one of our 39 polling centers.

Don’t wait until the last minute! This is the longest ballot in Denver history, with three 11”x 17” double-sided pages and 25 measures and many candidates! Set aside a little time and get it done now.

Returning your ballot early via drop box is much more than simply being an early bird. As a Denver voter, it makes a strong statement that showcases what’s possible for every voter in the country when voting is easy and secure—without having to take time off work and stand in long lines. Returning your ballot early also supports your fellow citizen election workers who are working late into the night counting ballots. Voting early also means earlier results. In our office, we value accuracy over speed so an early vote ensures we can deliver both.

As your Clerk and Recorder, it's not just my duty to ensure everyone who is eligible to vote can, without hassle, intimidation or fear...it’s an honor given the sacrifices so many have made for our democracy. This election let’s show the rest of the country just how easy and secure voting can be.

Open Ballots With Care

We have new, bigger envelopes for this election’s ballots. Use caution when opening the outer envelope so you don’t accidentally slice open the return envelope inside as well. Pick Up Free Voting Party Bags, Yard and Window Signs

We know this long ballot can be intimidating, so we’ve created a Do-It-Yourself Voting Party in a bag. It includes simple instructions for getting friends, family or neighbors together to go over the ballot together. We provide the popcorn and candy, notepads and sticky notes for the included ballot guides, chip clips, koozies for your favorite beverage, fun voting themed selfie décor, and of course, I Voted stickers. You can even walk to your nearest drop box together. You can pick up a party bag at the Denver Elections Division, 200 W. 14th Ave We also have “Let’s Vote” and “Ve Y Vota” yard and window signs you can pick up.

Outreach and engagement toolkit

Polling Centers Offer Language Accessibility and Visual Aids

We have rolled out PockeTalk translation devices that support 84 languages at all of our polling centers. This allows voters and elections employees to have real-time conversations via spoken interpretation, as well as translate text, written words, and signs to ensure clear, cohesive, and accurate communication between staff and voters.

In addition, our polling centers also feature voting stations for people with visual impairments. These devices read the ballot to the voter and provide special buttons to mark their ballots with.

Special ‘I Voted’ Stickers

If you know, you know – specialty ‘I Voted’ stickers are all the rage. In addition to the sticker that comes on your ballot, Denver Elections produces a variety of specialty stickers only available at our community events and polling centers. Stop by and start or add to your collection! Stickers include designs by Auraria Campus students and confined voters, and for Halloween and Dia de los Muertos.

Calling All Sports Fans

Denver Elections has partnered with our local sports teams to get out the vote! We joined the Denver Broncos at Empower Field on Sunday for the tailgate, and we will have our mobile voting coach in parking lot J (northwest corner) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. Stop by and get your special ‘Broncos Country Votes’ stickers and other voting swag.

Election Night Reporting

Denver Elections never reports election results before polls close at 7 p.m. Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5. In fact, we don’t even tabulate and add up the votes we have counted until right at 7 p.m. This is to ensure we don’t influence voters who have not yet cast their ballots. The initial results are posted at DenverVotes.org at 7 p.m. (and the Secretary of State posts statewide results at website).

Remember, these are unofficial results because we obviously aren’t done counting ballots right when polls close. We still have to collect the ballots from all of the drop boxes and polling centers, and have our bipartisan teams transport them back to our central office to have signatures verified, envelopes opened, and then be counted. Because we typically receive about 40% of our nearly half a million voters’ ballots back on Election Day – and 75% of those after polls close – it actually takes us several days after Election Day to finish counting. We also have to allow time for people who need to cure problems with their ballots and for all overseas ballots to arrive.

We have eight days after the election to submit our final official results to the Secretary of State for certification. We prioritize accuracy over speed to ensure every vote is counted accurately.
