Dear Denver,

As we approach the close of another year, we reflect on our vision for Denver: a city where every resident has the opportunity to fully participate in the democratic process, marry the person they love, access county and municipal records with ease, and trust in a transparent and fair foreclosure process. We remain committed to making these fundamental rights and services accessible, reliable, and secure for all of Denver’s communities.

This year was particularly eventful for our Denver Elections Division. Our team successfully administered four, flawless elections, including the historic 2024 Presidential General Election, which featured one of the longest ballots in Denver history. Together, more than 900 election workers and staff processed and counted 1,104,293 ballot cards for a total turnout of 77 percent. We held roundtables and town halls throughout Denver to prepare folks on what to expect for ensuring a secure, accessible and fair election.

Our Recording and Public Trustee Divisions also had a very productive and successful year. In February, to celebrate the month of love, we held our 12th annual Burnin’ Love Marriage Marathon. I suited up in my Elvis best and together with the team, married nearly a dozen Denver couples on the stairs of the City & County of Building.

Our Recording unit has also made great strides in digitizing public records this year. When complete, this project will ensure that important public records are maintained and electronically accessible for generations to come. Additionally, our County Recording Division team is excited to announce the upcoming launch of a new, easy-to-use online eRecording portal. This new eSubmission and eRecording functionality will provide a simple, efficient, and innovative way for title companies and government agencies to directly submit electronic recordings to Denver County.

As we near the end of 2024, now is a time for reflection, strategizing, and planning. As we look ahead, we remain focused on our goal of strengthening and expanding the ways in which we serve you. Together, we can continue building a Denver where all voices are heard and everyone has access to the tools they need to thrive.

Our mission is to serve the people of the City and County of Denver by ensuring that key services—ranging from elections and marriage records to real estate documentation and the foreclosure process—are available and easily navigable for every individual.

In solidarity,

Hon. Paul D. López

Acceso - Spanish Language Advisory Board

This year marked a significant milestone for the Clerk and Recorder’s Spanish Language Voter Advisory Board, Accesso, as the number of board members grew by almost double, and monthly meetings were held to support four elections in 2024. Advisory board members participated in community events that were important to Spanish-speaking voters including the César Chávez parade, Cinco de Mayo festivities, and Muertos en Westwood. Through the leadership of Acceso’s 2024 Chair and Vice-Chair, Marisa Krueger and Maria Jose Torres, the advisory board continues to center their focus on fostering meaning engagement with Denver’s Spanish-speaking residents and ensure that language access remains at the forefront of our collective efforts.

We would also like to extend special thank-you to our community partner, Re:Vision, and their Executive Director Mariana del Hierro for their support and collaboration.
