Happy April, Denver!
We kicked off the month by promoting civic engagement among Denver’s youth through our High School Voter Registration Week. Students are our future and involving them in civic engagement during their teenage years helps foster lifelong participation in voting, volunteering, and other forms of civic involvement. In Colorado, students can now pre-register to vote at 15, with their registration automatically activating once they turn 18.
This month, we are also launching an educational campaign about upcoming recording fee changes. Effective July 1, 2025, document recording fees will increase to $43.00 per document due to Colorado State Law. Documents submitted after June 30 will be subject to the new fee structure. To help prepare our constituents for this change, our team is creating both digital and print informational content to raise awareness about the transition. To help ease the transition, we will not require appointments to record documents throughout the month of June.
Lastly, for our April Record of the Month YouTube segment, we dug up two bills – separated by over 41 years – that highlight the history of one of Colorado’s most known political families: the McNichols. You can watch this month’s segment, along with our entire Record of the Month library, on our Mile High Clerk YouTube page by clicking here!
