A Note from Scott and Marsha
April 4, 2019
Y'all! This is love. This is a package of pure innocence and love bundled into 6 lb, 13 oz and 20.5" long. Meet Boone Douglas Barnes born on Friday, March 29th at 2:17 PM! The "squishy" has arrived and we could not be more excited for Doug and Rachel! I showed someone his picture, and I said our landscape designer had a baby and he responded with, "He designs cute babies!" Scott and I stopped by their house last night to meet Boone. There is something about seeing the next generation start their own families. It's very rewarding to witness especially when you work together every day and not only have a working relationship, but also a friendship. Doug has been handling fatherhood like a champ. Apparently Boone has been wearing him down every time Doug changes his diaper. I think Doug has been surprised at how much stuff can come out of something so small!  He is really super small and Scott felt like he was holding a baby doll. But I look at this picture and remember that is the same expression Scott had when he held our own children. Newborns really bring out the tenderness in everyone. Even the toughest person can suddenly become a big teddy bear when holding a baby. We look forward to all the fun stories they have ahead. Meanwhile, those of us at FGS are already lobbying for who gets to hold him first when he comes for visits! Who knows?! Maybe he will make his first appearance at our 20th Anniversary Celebration on April 13-14 in the Garden Center. And the newest little addition can help you bring green home, too!!! Congrats to Doug and Rachel! When you see Doug, I'm sure his phone will be loaded with fresh pictures for you to see.

TREES, TREES, TREES
PINK VELOUR CRAPE MYRTLE
Crape Myrtles are a popular tree choice for many reasons. This Pink Velour variety has beautiful pink blooms all summer long. The leaves are a purplish-green. Crape Myrtles are deer and mildew resistant, making them perfect for our area. The Pink Velour only grows to be about 10 feet tall, so it is perfect for small yards.
ENCORE AZALEAS
What is better than a shrub that blooms beautifully, not just once a year, but twice? There may be a few better things, but we do love the Encore Azalea just for that reason. The Encore Azalea also does well in the sun (as opposed to spring-only blooming, shade loving azaleas). It is a perfect shrub for your foundation and we have many colors for you to choose from.
BLOODGOOD JAPANESE MAPLE
This easy to grow tree is perfect for small yards. The Bloodgood Japanese Maple will grow to 15-20 feet tall. The deep burgundy foliage is what gives this tree is unique name. In the fall, the leaves turn to a show-stopping scarlet! We have other Japanese Maples to choose from, so come peruse our selection of these popular trees.
