First Quarter 2018
President’s Message
It is with pleasure that I take over the reign as your Ohio CCIM 2018 Chapter President. I want to personally thank our Board Members, and Mac Biggar, our 2017 President, for your service last year. Without the dedication of our tireless “volunteers”, we could have not accomplished what we did last year.
2017 found us hosting a multitude of courses and networking events, including Tax Increment Financing courses, PACE financing courses, Hot Legal Issues Affecting Commercial Agents, Core Ethics, Civil Rights, and of course our core courses for designation. Our Toledo event at the Mudhens stadium was extremely well attended and our Keenland event is always a huge success. Look for these events again in 2018!
I also want to thank our 2017 sponsors - your support has been pivotal throughout the years and we appreciate everything you do for our chapter. Kudos to Cooperative Business Services, LLC, Hanna Commercial Real Estate, US Bank, CBC Emmco Realty Group, Elford Realty, Lee & Associates, Mannik Smith Group, Roetzel, Bricker & Eckler, Equity, Sikora Law, LLC and Vorys, for contributing to our success.
I am looking forward to a stellar 2018. If you are interesting in getting more involved, we would love to have you on board. Call me anytime, (614) 203-8188 or email me at to discuss.

Recent Events
In September and again in December, the Ohio CCIM Chapter co-sponsored the ever-popular and always-entertaining Mike Sikora. Mike presented a lively and interactive 3-hour session covering ‘Core Ethics’ as it pertains to real estate law. Attendees learned some common pitfalls for the commercial real estate agent when it comes to topics such as contemporaneous offers, dual agency and House Bill 532.
In October at the Fall 2017 Business Meetings, Shad Phipps CCIM was honored with a named endowed scholarship. Shad has a long and distinguished history with both the CCIM Institute and the Ohio CCIM Chapter. The Shad Phipps CCIM scholarship will be available to students in Ohio that are interested in taking core CCIM courses and help to ensure that quality educational opportunities are available to all that are interested. Congratulations Shad!
