Impact 2016 Ohio Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences Annual Conference
Did you mark your calendars? Now it's time to register. The Impact 2016 Ohio Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences Annual Conference will be held August 1-2, 2016 at the Hilton Easton in Columbus. As always, the conference will be filled with strategies to take back for immediate implementation in your classroom and updates on content and program requirements. As we prepare to embark on our new courses with new end of course assessments required, there has never been a more important year to put the summer conference on your "to-do" list. Featured speakers will include Susan Turgenston from Learning Zone Express speaking on STEM in the FCS classroom, Rick Metzger on Making Your Program Sing and Chef Leslie from the Soft Red Winter Wheat Council with an exciting opportunity for FCCLA chapters and your classrooms. In addition, we will have sessions on most of the new courses including FCCLA integration ideas, content specifics and strategies to ramp up your classroom this fall. Special sessions on Fair Trade, Nutrition update from Giant Eagle, new delivery models for FCS and so much more.

Ohio Jump$tart is hosting a fully sponsored personal finance teacher training from August 3-5, 2016 in the northern Columbus area. All hotel, food [breakfast and lunch], facility, and training costs are covered. Teachers will also have an opportunity to earn CEU's free of cost and graduate school hours through the University of Cincinnati at a discounted rate. The application deadline has been extended to May 31, 2016, and the SLO requirement has been dropped. The Jump$tart Teacher Training Alliance (J$TTA) is a teacher training model in personal finance ensuring consistency and rigor in teacher training programs across the country. The model focuses on delivering personal finance content and will include resources and some pedagogical strategies. Application and event details are found here:

The Columbus College of Art and Design has developed a track for Family and Consumer Sciences teachers to provide you instruction on interior and fashion design principles that align with the standards.

Interior Design Join Interior Faculty to learn about basic methods of teaching and learning Interior Design concepts - from basic design and space planning techniques to the materials and tools used to create designed presentations and projects. Hand construction methods, sketching, and digital techniques will be explored.
10:15 A.M. - 11:45 A.M. Re-Work / Re-Use (Interior/Fashion Collaboration) Join Interior and Fashion Faculty to develop a collaborative mock retail window display. Inspired by growing conversations regarding sustainable design, this project will incorporate innovative thinking and green design methods (re-cycling, up-cycling, etc.) to create beautiful, functional designs using only "found" objects.

FCCLA at The Ohio State Fair

Ohio FCCLA will have a booth again this year at the Ohio State Fair. The booth will require 4 to 5 students and an adviser to attend and man the booth for a 4-5 hour shift. The fair runs from July 27, 2016 through August 7, 2016. This year we will completing Service Learning Projects at our booth. All members and advisers who attend will receive free admission to the fair and a meal ticket. Complete the following form to submit your chapter's availability. National FCCLA are still in need of approximately 60 advisers and adults to serve as Adult Room Consultants and Evaluators for the 2016 National STAR Events competition. If administrators, parents, or chaperones are attending, they would be a good choice as an evaluator. If you have a student competing in a STAR event, it is expected that you will volunteer to help with the evaluation process. Without the assistance of advisers, Competitions cannot occur at the National Leadership Conference. Sign up can be completed through the National Conference Registration system.

Granville High School is selling Ohio trading pins for NLC. Pins will be .50 cents each. Orders can be placed by completing the below order form and emailing it to
