Ohio State Fair
Ohio FCCLA is still in need of FCCLA members and advisers that are interested in participating at the Ohio FCCLA booth during the Ohio State Fair, July 29, 2015 through August 9, 2015.  Each participating chapter will receive a day parking pass, free admission and lunch tickets. 

  

We are looking for one chapter to provide one adviser and four members to participate each day.  The booth will be open from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and chapters are asked to report at 8:30 A.M. to the Lausche Building. 

 

Chapter volunteers will supervise an interactive service learning project sponsored by Ohio FCCLA as well as educate visitors on the importance of Family and Consumer Sciences education.  The following dates still need filled:  August 1,2,3,4,5,7 and 8th.  If you are able to assist with any of these available dates please contact Kelly Jung at [email protected].

Share Our Strength Award Winner

Anthony Wayne High School FCCLA Help an event that supported the share our strengths mission. Their event raised over $4,200 to donate to the Share Our Strength and No Kid Hungry campaign! Over 30 volunteers and 180 runners attended the No Kid Hungry 5k on April 11, 2015.  Runners and volunteers donated over 600 non-perishable food items to the Anthony Wayne Food Pantry.  Prizes were awarded to the overall top male and female runners along with top runners in each age group.  Raffle prizes were awarded to runners from Barry Bagel, Maumee Indoor Movie Theater, Toledo Mud Hens, Toledo Walleye, Shimmer Gifts, Kroger, Subway-Waterville and Marcos Pizza.  

 

Businesses that supported this event were:  Anthony Wayne Auto & Tire, The Andersons, Scott Neumann-State Farm Insurance, Zepf Center, Dance Expressions, Shimmer Gifts, Subway-Waterville, Huntington Learning Center, Sun Federal Credit Union, Look at Me Signs, Graphics, & Screen Printing and Whalen Realty. Anthony Wayne High School FCCLA was also awarded the James T. and Betty Coffey Fellowship Fund from the Ohio Lions Club to help with this event.  Fruit, water and other goodies were provided to all racers by Extra Virgin Catering Services.  DJ services were provided by Thomas Ziems of Mr. Z DJ.  A bake sale sponsored by Anthony Wayne Junior High FCCLA was also held at the race.

This professional development opportunity is not to be missed.  The conference is filled with keynote speakers like Sandy Spavone, National Director of FCCLA and Dr. Nancy Franz, speaking on the professional image of FCS and multiple breakout sessions sure to prepare you for a impactful school year.  Go to www.oatfacs.org to see the tentative schedule and don't forget to reserve your hotel room at the Hilton Easton, our host hotel.  Early bird registration ends July 15, 2015 so please don't miss this chance to save!
