Virtual Fall Leadership Conference
Ohio HOSA will be conducting a virtual Fall Leadership Conference. The conference will be conducted over a three-day period (October 26-28).

An individualized email is being sent to all chapter advisors starting today that has specifics on how to register and registration costs. Check your email subject line: "FLC Virtual Registration Information".

Some of the advantages include:
  • Advisors will have a large number of workshops and seminars to share with their students for up to three days of classroom instruction.
  • All HOSA members will be able to participate for a fraction of the cost it would have cost for them to attend an on-site conference.
  • Workshops and seminars will be presented by the state officers and other special guests.
  • We will be conducting for the first time ever, statewide delegate committee meetings via ZOOM.

Details are being finalized and will be announced as they are finalized.
Establishing Tallo Accounts
An excellent activity to begin the school year is for your students to create a Tallo account. This will assist the students as they compete in competitive events. We encourage all students to complete the student profile section of the account.
The benefits of establishing and completing the student profile section include:
  • Their account is ready for them to upload needed items to specific competitive events.
  • Streamlines the process of applying for HOSA scholarships.
  • Access to Ohio HOSA State Executive (Officer) Team application. Available today!
  • Provides cumulative data about our 7,400 plus members such as their career interests, goals, average ACT/SAT scores, diversity and much more. The cumulative data provides a profile of Ohio HOSA that allows us to connect with potential supporters and sponsors of events.
  • Colleges and Universities will be able to connect to students who express an interest in attending their institution.
  • Students can give you access privileges to their account. That would allow you to verify their uploads for competitive events, scholarships, and officer applications.

Students can establish their Tallo account by clicking on the following link:

If you have any questions about this process contact the State Advisor.
Membership/Affiliation Detail
As students affiliate this year we area asking them to provide an email address that is not a school email address. We found many students who competed at the Virtual ILC could not be easily be reached via email as they had used a school email address that was either deactivated over the summer or inaccessible since the student was not in the school facility. Also many schools have firewalls that will block incoming emails outside their particular system, thus making it difficult to share important messages and updates regarding HOSA and Tallo.
RightResponse Opportunity
Looking for a way to fund raise this year? Why not consider conducting a RightResponse fundraiser! From now until December 1st, any group that registers for online will get 50%!!!! Sandi shared, "... what we thought before was 30% was now raised to 50%!! I hope that this stimulates all your groups to want to run with us!!!" Those interested in considering this opportunity please contact SAndi Burgess at [email protected]. Click on the below link to learn more.

Recorded Advisor Webinar
Ohio HOSA in partnership with 3B Scientific conducted two webinars on August 4th and 6th for advisors. If you were unable to join us for the live webinar you can click on the below link to access the recorded webinar.

Medical Forms
Attached are the 2020-21 Medical and Code of conduct forms for your students to complete before they participate in HOSA activities for the upcoming school year. We encourage all students to compete the form at the beginning of the year. Be certain the forms are signed by the appropriate person(s) before sending them to the state office. One advisor shared with me that they are including these forms in their "Start of the School Year" forms given to students the first days of school.

National HOSA - New Classroom Resources
I am excited to share that National HOSA is developing new classroom resources for you and your members. The National HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors Executive Committee has enthusiastically working this summer to address providing value-added resources for advisors as they prepare their students for another exciting HOSA year.

Two Task Forces have been established to provide input to National HOSA Headquarters for development of resources including webinars. The Webinar Series Task Force. chaired by Jim Scott, is focused on developing webinars that can be used for educating and training local members and local chapter officers. We are also developing a series of ideas for webinars to assist local chapter advisors.

The Task Force is comprised of local advisors, state and national officers, and state advisors from across the country. The Task Force will also be recommending frequency of webinars to be released to local advisors. Final recommendations have been forwarded to Headquarters. As webinars are developed and released we will be notifying you.
