Member Statewide Committees Established
All chapters who register for the Fall Leadership Conference will be invited to nominate one member to serve on a statewide committee. Ideally, each school will have a member of a committee.

Ohio HOSA has established eight (8) committees that will meet virtually throughout the year to address and propose new initiatives for our organization. The eight committees are:
Membership
Public Relations
Marketing
Conferences
Alumni Development
Postsecondary
Competitive Events
Bylaws/Policies and Procedures

Once your chapter is registered you will be contacted in mid-October to submit the name of the nominee with their email address. The committees will be announced on October 28th at the virtual Fall Leadership Conference.

Each committee will meet in the Fall and Spring to develop an agenda, discuss issues, and offer recommendations to be presented to the delegates at the State Leadership Conference and eventually to the Ohio HOSA, Inc. Board of Directors.

Leadership for each committee will consist of an advisor and state officer. Committee chairs will be selected from within the committee.
We are looking forward to grassroot input as we continue to grow our organization. More details being developed.
Regional Theme and Tee Shirt Contest
Ohio HOSA is proud to announce a new competition. The state officers are inviting all affiliated chapters to submit a Tee Shirt Theme and Design entry that can be used as the official Regional Competition Tee Shirt. Each chapter is encouraged to submit one entry for consideration. The winning design, as selected by the FLC delegates, will be awarded a prize along with 12 complimentary tee shirts for their chapter officers and advisor and a plaque for display by the chapter. Entries are due October 18, 2020. Voting will be done virtually. Details will be posted to the Ohio HOSA website and can also be found by clicking on the below button. We look forward to your students' creative designs.
All chapters will be able to purchase the winning Regional Tee Shirt design and have it drop shipped to their school.
Update on the 2020 Fall Leadership Conference
  1. New! We are asking all chapters who register to nominate one member who will serve on a virtual State Committee addressing items that can enhance and grow Ohio HOSA. Once you register, I will be in contact with you to identify which of your voting delegates you are nominating. These committees will function virtually throughout the year and make recommendations to the delegates at the 2021 State Leadership Conference. More details shared in the next few weeks.
  2. The state pin design competition will not be held this year because we have the pins from last year's ILC that were not distributed.
  3. New! Ohio HOSA will be sponsoring a Regional Competitive Event Tee Shirt and Theme design contest. Tee shirt themes and designs will be solicited from all chapters and voted on by the delegates at the FLC. Details will be sent to all advisors.
  4. Each chapter is allocated the number of delegates based upon last year's membership. Click on the below button to access your delegate count. Note: New chapter are awarded delegates based upon their affiliation numbers this school year.
Virtual Local Advisor Professional Development
Ohio HOSA will be conducting a Virtual Local Advisor Professional Development Workshop on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. There will be two sessions to choose from to fit your schedule. Click on the below link button to sign up. Workshop materials will be mailed directly to each participant. Cost is $40/attendee.
Virtual Fall Leadership Conference
Ohio HOSA will be conducting a virtual Fall Leadership Conference. The conference will be conducted over a three-day period (October 26-28).

An individualized email is being sent to all chapter advisors starting today that has specifics on how to register and registration costs. Check your email subject line: "FLC Virtual Registration Information".

Some of the advantages include:
  • Advisors will have a large number of workshops and seminars to share with their students for up to three days of classroom instruction.
  • All HOSA members will be able to participate for a fraction of the cost it would have cost for them to attend an on-site conference.
  • Workshops and seminars will be presented by the state officers and other special guests.
  • We will be conducting for the first time ever, statewide delegate committee meetings via ZOOM.

Details are being finalized and will be announced as they are finalized.
Establishing Tallo Accounts
An excellent activity to begin the school year is for your students to create a Tallo account. This will assist the students as they compete in competitive events. We encourage all students to complete the student profile section of the account.
The benefits of establishing and completing the student profile section include:
  • Their account is ready for them to upload needed items to specific competitive events.
  • Streamlines the process of applying for HOSA scholarships.
  • Access to Ohio HOSA State Executive (Officer) Team application. Available today!
  • Provides cumulative data about our 7,400 plus members such as their career interests, goals, average ACT/SAT scores, diversity and much more. The cumulative data provides a profile of Ohio HOSA that allows us to connect with potential supporters and sponsors of events.
  • Colleges and Universities will be able to connect to students who express an interest in attending their institution.
  • Students can give you access privileges to their account. That would allow you to verify their uploads for competitive events, scholarships, and officer applications.

Students can establish their Tallo account by clicking on the following link:

If you have any questions about this process contact the State Advisor.
Membership/Affiliation Details
As students affiliate this year we area asking them to provide an email address that is not a school email address. We found many students who competed at the Virtual ILC could not be easily be reached via email as they had used a school email address that was either deactivated over the summer or inaccessible since the student was not in the school facility. Also many schools have firewalls that will block incoming emails outside their particular system, thus making it difficult to share important messages and updates regarding HOSA and Tallo.
Medical Forms
Attached are the 2020-21 Medical and Code of conduct forms for your students to complete before they participate in HOSA activities for the upcoming school year. We encourage all students to compete the form at the beginning of the year. Be certain the forms are signed by the appropriate person(s) before sending them to the state office. One advisor shared with me that they are including these forms in their "Start of the School Year" forms given to students the first days of school.
Send an email to Jim Scott to sign up another advisor or your administrators that may benefit from this weekly newsletter.
