COVID-19 Guidance for Ohio Public Transit
and Human Service Transportation Agencies
The Ohio Public Transit Association (OPTA) has developed
guidelines and best practices
for public transit and human service (“PT/HS”) transportation agencies during Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
While Ohio residents, schools and businesses have been following a Stay-at-Home and Stay-Safe orders since March 23, Ohio public transit systems have continued to provide essential mobility services and transportation to their local communities.
were prepared with the assistance of leadership from OPTA members and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). OPTA recently provided the PT/HS Guidelines to the Office of Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health.
and updates issued by the Center for Disease Control, Federal Transit Administration, Ohio Department of Health, and local health departments have been a critical source of real-time information critically important to enabling vital, life-sustaining transportation to continue during the pandemic.
OPTA’s PT/HS guidelines interpret and apply the federal and state-issued best practices within the constraints and environmental realities of public transit and human service transportation, based upon the core, driving principle of protecting and preserving the health and safety of our workforce and communities.
