Happy spring to our Ohmsett community!
Everything is in full swing at our facility as we prepare for this year's first semi-annual Coast Guard OSRT training. Here's a quick glimpse at what's been happening the last few months, and a few upcoming events we'd like to highlight in this edition:
-
Blue Innovation Symposium. In February we paid a visit to the Blue Innovation Symposium in Rhode Island, where we met with a mix of companies testing some unique marine energy equipment and autonomous vehicles.
-
BSEE / SL Ross Dielectric Sorbent Testing. A working group convened at Ohmsett in March to observe and evaluate the BSEE–Ohmsett field‑scale Type I sorbent testing protocol. Representatives from BSEE, SL Ross, and NOAA participated, with Ohmsett staff presenting the setup and procedures. The group exchanged a range of ideas on how the protocol could be refined and ultimately positioned for consideration as a future ASTM standard.
-
SCAA Annual Meeting. In March, we also reconnected with the Spill Control Association of America (SCAA) at their Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, which included presentations on a variety of spill-related topics, including an informative session by BSEE's Eric Miller about Ohmsett. Please contact us at the e-mail address below if I didn't get a chance to meet you while I was there!
-
Facility Enhancements. Work continues on a variety of facilities projects to enhance the client experience in preparation for a very busy summer testing season.
-
TEAMER Facility Summit. We are excited to support the TEAMER Facility Summit in June, where we'll be presenting our facility capabilities to the TEAMER network of marine energy technology developers.
-
Texas A&M Training. We invite those looking for spill response training to sign up for Texas A&M University's upcoming training course being held at Ohmsett from 6-8 October. Keep an eye out on the TAMU Course list webpage for the course announcement. We will also include a link to the registration page on our LinkedIn page and in a subsequent newsletter once the course is formally announced.
Our test schedule is filling up quickly, but we still have availability in the last quarter of the calendar year and into 2027. Check out our test schedule page to book time for our tank, high bay area, and/or our lab space.
Please reach out if we can help in any way. Testing, training, tours. Let us know what you need and our experts will gladly help!
