Who Knew!

Thank you to Stacy Price, Librarian at the Heritage Library, for sharing so many insights on our library system. Just some fun facts that you might not know…

  1. You can use 3-D printers and sewing machines, among other things, for FREE
  2. There are now self-serve hours if you would like to enjoy the library before and after hours
  3. Stacy is an on-site Spanish interpreter and each of the 10 county libraries have one.
  4. The Apple Valley Galaxie library has on-site free legal advice from on-staff law librarians
  5. If you want a book that is not available in their system, or even the state, they can probably get it for you from another state! They found one man a Western novel he was looking for.

These are just some of the cool things you learn at Good Morning Lakeville!

Join us next month when we learn more about our Lakeville Community Education program!

Made in Lakeville!

Last week was our 3rd annual Made in Lakeville teacher tour! In honor of Manufacturing Month, we took a group of teachers on a bus tour of Airlake Industrial Park, highlighting the various products made here in town. We stopped for in-person tours at HOBO, Chemquest, Triton and Advanced Wireless Communications. Both companies shared the various careers available in their companies and gave the teachers some treats and swag as well! A special thank you to Schmitty & Sons for the luxurious coach bus, to The Better Half for a fun happy hour after the tour and to Kati Bachmayer and Tina Goodroad with the City of Lakeville for planning the route, narrating the tour, and creating the fun BINGO game for prizes!

Lakeville Works Update!

A couple of weeks ago, members of the Chamber Foundation and the Lakeville Works Steering Committee had the opportunity to visit our three middle schools to see the impact of our donations to STEM education and career exploration. Earlier this year we donated $15,000 for cordless power tools and $1,900 for 3 new welders. Read the full article here.
