Oklahomans for Equality invites you again to our annual Equality Gala!

This event serves as our anchor fundraising endeavor, garnering support for our mission of seeking equal rights for LGBTQ+ individuals and families through advocacy, education, programs, alliances, and the operation of the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center.

Every dollar and in-kind donation benefits our local communities through tangible and needed programs and services. By bridging the gap in resources and representation, we help all persons within and allied to the LGBTQ+ spectrum to thrive and live proudly.

Julie L. Goree with Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma is available for drop-in discussions regarding legal issues. It is a "first come, first serve basis". Please be patient and prepared to wait your turn. 

Julie can answer basic questions on any matter that Legal Aid covers. So, divorces, paternity, child custody, protective orders, child support, guardianships, housing, expungements, Wills/Estates, and Social Security.  Legal Aid does not cover criminal,  personal injury, or worker's comp.  She has some knowledge about those fields of law.  

If the question is beyond her knowledge, then she can take the person's phone number and call them back after discussing it with another Legal Aid attorney. She also will accept questions via email or phone if someone does not feel comfortable getting out or coming in.

Audrey Byrd presents "The Diversity of Queer Sex" at The Allie Jensen Memorial Art Gallery.

The exhibit will be on display for the month of March.

“The Diversity of Queer Sex” is a special project that intends to show the many ways that queer people show their love and affection, outside of the as-seen-on-TV heteronormative trope. Queer sex is not heavily represented in mainstream media, and there are often misconceptions about what intimacy looks like in the queer community. We are often hypersexualized and disrespected, but I wanted to reclaim that stereotyped sexuality by showing both modest sensuality and kinky dominance veiled in exaggerated colors and abstract contortions. Yes, our love can be alternative and shocking to the public eye, but it is also gentle and precious.

It goes without saying that this collection doesn’t scratch the surface of the true scope of queer sexuality but is representative of some of the experiences by myself and those close to me. I dedicate much of my artistic vision and motivation to my stunning future wife, Sydney, and I could not have done this without her. Two years ago, we met at this very gallery for my first show at OKEQ, “The Divine Feminine.” She has seen my art grow and has supported me in every area of life since. Thank you, darling.

Audrey is a Tulsa native that has tapped into the local art scene to share her love for the human body, sexuality, and intimacy. Her bold colors and risqué subjects represent her desire to destigmatize sex and embrace the diversity of human interaction. Art has not only been a means of helping her models fall in deeper love with their own bodies, but it has also helped Audrey love her curves in a radical way. Outside of the studio, Audrey is a strong community activist and physician that aims to marry her love of art and medicine for the rest of her career.

OKEQ Seniors is daytime programming for those who are retired or accessible during the day. The mission of OKEQ Seniors is to address issues related to aging lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons. In partnership with its constituents and allies, OKEQ Seniors works to achieve a high quality of life for LGBT older adults, supports and advocates for their rights, fosters a greater understanding of aging in all communities, and promotes positive images of LGBT life in later years.

OKEQ Seniors meets every Tuesday morning at 10:00 am at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center.

Currently, we are compiling a list of over 100 books, primarily Young Adult titles, to purchase in the next month. In addition, we sent out our first batch of library cards, with more to be mailed out soon. 

There is still a lot of work to be done. With limited time, the other library volunteers and I are doing what we can to finish sending out our backlog of library card requests, add new books, process current books (since the conversion from the old system to this one was not entirely 100% smooth), and become fluent on the new system. So bear with us as we work through these things, but most importantly, come enjoy YOUR new library.

The EBA exists to strengthen LGBTQ+ -welcoming businesses in the Tulsa community by:

1. Providing a directory of LGBTQ+ welcoming businesses in the Tulsa community;
2. Creating regular networking opportunities with these businesses; and
3. Creating professional environments where gay-welcoming businesses can meet to have their voices heard on important issues that affect how we do business and our quality of life.

The EFA exists to connect the LGBTQIA+ community with affirming faith communities. 

All participating faith communities must show a commitment to being an affirming and welcoming place for the LGBTQ+ community in their spaces and in their practices. 

The EHA strives to connect the LGBTQ+ community with friendly healthcare providers. We provide healthcare professionals with training on working with the LGBTQ+ community as well as follow-up support and education on evolving best practices.

OSU - Tulsa Counseling Services

The Oklahoma State Tulsa Counseling Center is an LGBTQ+ affirming center located in Main Hall of OSU Tulsa. You do not have to be affiliated with OSU to benefit from these services! Our center offers clients from OKEQ sessions for only 5 dollars. Each member of our counseling team receives additional training and supervision in LGBTQ+ issues and is excited to work with clients from OKEQ.
