Okaloosa and Walton Counties Traffic Advisory

Chipley, Fla. – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Okaloosa and Walton counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.


Okaloosa County:

  • Brooks Bridge Replacement Project – Drivers may encounter the following traffic disruptions, Sunday, Dec. 15 through Thursday, Dec. 19, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities:
  • U.S. 98 alternating lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road.
  • Santa Rosa Boulevard alternating lane closures from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park.
  • U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast – Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures, between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach, Sunday, Dec. 15 through Thursday, Dec. 19, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for paving operations and manhole adjustments.
  • Interstate 10 (I-10) Resurfacing from west of Yellow River to east of Shoal River – Drivers will encounter intermittent and alternating I-10 lane closures between mile marker 50 and mile marker 53 near the Yellow River Bridge, Monday, Dec. 16 through Thursday, Dec. 19, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Mid-Bay Bridge Rehabilitation Project – Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on the Mid-Bay Bridge, Sunday, Dec. 15 through Thursday, Dec. 19, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. for construction activities.
  • State Road (S.R.) 85 and S.R. 189 Intersection Improvements – Drivers may encounter intermittent S.R. 189 lane closures at Pelham Road, Sunday, Dec. 15 through Thursday, Dec. 19, between 6:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for signalization work.
  • S.R. 85 Improvements from S.R. 123 to U.S. 90 – Drivers may encounter intermittent S.R. 85 lane closures, from Redstone Avenue to U.S. 90, Sunday, Dec. 15 through Thursday, Dec. 19, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for concrete work and guardrail installation.
  • Mary Esther Boulevard (S.R. 393) Resurfacing from U.S. 98 to Beal Parkway (S.R. 189) – Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on Mary Esther Boulevard, for crews to place thermoplastic striping and perform traffic signalization work at the following locations and times:
  • Sunday, Dec. 15 through Thursday, Dec. 19, from U.S. 98 to Hollywood Boulevard, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 15 through Saturday, Dec. 21, from Hollywood Boulevard to Beal Parkway, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • S.R. 189 Turn Lane Operations at Carter Oaks Circle – Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, Dec. 16 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for turn lane operations.
  • S.R. 85 Sidewalk Operations at Yacht Club Drive – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures Friday, Dec. 20 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for sidewalk operations.


Walton County:

  • Western Lake Bridge Replacement – Drivers may encounter intermittent County Road 30A single-lane closures over Western Lake Bridge, Sunday, Dec. 15 through Thursday, Dec. 19, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for crews to move equipment. During the closures, east and westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane with temporary signals directing traffic through the work zone.
  • U.S. 331 Resurfacing Project from south of I-10 to U.S. 90 – Drivers may encounter U.S. 331 northbound lane closures, between Corbett Drive and Bruce Avenue, Monday, Dec. 16 and Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for crews to install drilled shafts. 

All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
