What's New in Old Agoura?

We hope the new year is going well for everyone! It is certainly going quickly, and we have a lot of updates! Read on.

A warm welcome to new neighbors!

You should have received your welcome bags with fun swag and information on living in a rural equestrian community. We have since added some new materials that you can access and share with other interested neighbors.



New Board Members

We are excited to announce some new members on the volunteer Old Agoura Board! Residents Rob Sack, Christine Richardson, and Scott Woods have stepped up to help with various issues such as road repaving, safety, communications, and activities.  Read more about the board here.

What’s in the works:

The City of Agoura Hills has been working diligently to address the neighborhood's requests for road and trail infrastructure repairs and an OA Emergency Evacuation Plan. We are excited to share our joint efforts and progress:

• The City of AH is updating our EMERGENCY EVACUATION PLAN (yes, one exists!) with our input on past experiences of fires, flooding, and horse evacuation. The plan is also looking to include a shelter-in-place location for large animals, organized evacuation routes, and private traffic control. Look out for the finalized plan that we will share at OldAgoura.org and via email!

• ROAD REPAVING plans for the PUBLIC sections of Colodny and Cheseboro are nearly complete to go out for bids, and we may see work start as early as July! Members of the BOD met to review the plans with the City staff, who have done an incredible job with surveys, engineering and planning to repair the roads correctly with water drainage and trail easement/driveway contiguity. Additionally, horse trail safety concerns will be addressed at the corners of Driver/Fairview and Driver/Colodny. Please email us if you have questions.

• Many have expressed dismay with certain roadway conditions. We are exploring options for PAVING PRIVATE PORTIONS of Fairview, Chesebro and Colodny in conjunction with the city's work for cost and timing efficiency, but WE CANNOT DO THIS WITHOUT YOUR HELP. We need committed monetary donations for initial engineering surveys and subsequent work done to the city standard, which has much improved since the last paving. Your contribution as a responsible homeowner will PAVE (all puns intended) a neighborhood legacy that keeps the street safe for cars, pedestrians, horses, and emergency vehicles. This is the easiest way you can ensure the longevity and safety of the road for which you are technically responsible. We will handle permits, research, and actual work; all you have to do is contribute the funds! 

We will be providing more information in a separate link dedicated to private road paving. We will also be knocking on the doors of the homes directly on the repaving routes.

Slowing the roll on Driver

A pedestrian was recently hit by a car on Driver Avenue, and a number of residents have asked to petition the City for traffic calming devices. If you would like to sign the petition, you may add your name here.

New Events Calendar

We are adding features to our revamped website. Send us your Old Agoura activities, and we will post them.

Old Agoura Spring Social

At the request of many, we are shifting our annual BBQ neighborhood event to the Spring instead of November to take advantage of warmer weather and longer daylight, with an April/May date. If you would like to help out with this event, please reach out to directors@oldagoura.org.
