Honoring Our Local War Veterans
One Mission At A Time
|
|
Greetings!
Check out this photo from Mission 40; it’s of a Vietnam veteran and his guardian across from the Vietnam Wall in Washington, DC. It turns out our Vietnam vet couldn’t get any closer to the Wall that day; emotionally he couldn’t handle it. His guardian, a war veteran himself, just sat with him quietly, never leaving his side, ensuring the vet had someone to talk to, lean on and support him. I am certain they were deep in thought and like veterans do, shared an instant, unspoken bond, as only veterans can. We do good work and each day we get closer to our mission of honoring those that served so they can heal, bond and feel appreciated. We can’t wait until we get the green light to fly again, hopefully by late summer. At this point, DC isn't ready for us; large public gatherings are not allowed, the museums are closed to large groups and Arlington National Cemetery isn't open to the public to view the Changing of the Guard Ceremony. But, until we get back in the air, we’ll continue to prepare for the day that we can again fly our senior war heroes on their very own Honor Flight. In meantime, consider joining us at our summer fundraising event called the Patriotic Picnic, details below.
Thank you for your support,
Diane

The Patriotic Picnic presented by WPS Health Solutions is Saturday, August 28th at Fox Cities Stadium. Tickets are only $20 and include a casual picnic dinner, live Bingo with prizes, 50/50 raffle, silent auction, merchandise booth, cash bar and a special screening of the movie, "Sijan", a documentary film about Capt. Lance P. Sijan, a POW and Medal of Honor recipient from Wisconsin. This event will be held outdoors, rain or shine. Proceeds will benefit future Old Glory Honor Flight missions.
Hope to see everyone there!
