Old Product, New Buzz, Real Concerns | |
The product known as Feel Free is trending, but it is not new. Actually, many of you have seen it! Take a look at what I have seen in your states…
There have been some recent news stories and questions about this product and its contents. Let me provide some insight into what I have seen over the years.
I first found this product 6-8 years ago while in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, at a shop just off the beach. I am not certain how long it has actually been out there, but I know even then it wasn't a new product. Since then, I have seen it in most states across the US, from smoke shops to gas stations, even liquor stores.
I showed a slide in my training recently in Illinois with a display of the product in front of a Missouri liquor store (in a photo that I took last month). Most of you reading this have seen this displayed on a sticker on the door of a gas station or liquor store. I have even found it in malls, as some states don't carry any restrictions. It is also commonly left sitting on a shelf next to 7-OH (see previous newsletter).
I have seen different versions like the one pictured below in stores across the country...
But what is actually in it?

I attended your presentation yesterday in Franklin County. I am a CPRS and I am quite familiar with adults and addiction, but yesterday I learned about teenagers, their drugs of choice, and how it becomes addiction with the youth. I just wanted to say that was the most informative and heart-touching presentation that I have ever been to. After the presentation, I actually took time to go to some of our local gas stations to look at some of the products that you spoke to us about. That is when your presentation really hit home. I just wanted to say thank you for your work and our community and for making families aware of what is going on in our neighborhoods. Thank you for giving us the information and the tools that we need to save our youth. May God bless you, sir, and thank you again for your work in our communities. - Tennessee
I had the opportunity to attend your presentation at CADCA Mid-Year in Nashville and appreciated the information you shared. Your session was engaging, informative, and incredibly relevant to the prevention work we’re doing in our community. – Washington
I would like to say that I have really enjoyed your two webinars so far. I cannot believe all the ways people can get high. No wonder it I so hard to help addicts stop using. It is too easy for them to get items over the counter. It is sad that the ones who figured these methods out didn’t use their smarts to create a way to help people, not hurt people! - Webinar Attendee
