February at Old Sturbridge Village Brings Maple Days
|
|
Sturbridge, M.A. – Old Sturbridge Village is open during the winter months with many seasonal programs and events each weekend with extended hours beginning Wednesday, February 22 and the start of Maple Days.
Included with standard daytime admission on select dates in February and March guests can see the entire sugar-making process, from tapping the trees to “sugaring off,” and learn why maple sugar was more commonly used than maple syrup in early New England. Costumed historians will also cook period foods made with maple products and the tinner and cooper will make maple-related items. Maple Days are Wednesday through Sunday, February 22nd through March19th from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Maple Days is sponsored by Bond Construction Corporation.
Additional winter season events include walking through historic buildings, engaging with our costumed historians, and seeing heritage-breed animals. A wide variety of maple products are available at the Ox & Yoke Mercantile, including syrup, maple-scented bath and body products, maple candy, maple recipe books, and more. Ox & Yoke Mercantile is the newest shopping experience at Old Sturbridge Village, having opened in July 2022. The store is open 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on days the Village is open. Ox & Yoke Mercantile is located outside of the Visitor Center and offers upscale items meant for the modern day including home décor, books for both adults and children, food items, gardening supplies, toys, Village-made crafts and kits and more.

About Old Sturbridge Village
Old Sturbridge Village, first opened to the public in 1946, is one of the country's oldest and largest living history museums, celebrating life in early New England from 1790-1840. It is the largest living history museum in the Northeast.
