Old devices bring new opportunities for the kids of Ile-a-Vache

Dear Friends,

The last two weeks have been very difficult for us at FlyingHigh4Haiti. First, Hurricane Elsa managed to do some damage to our school. Then came the assassination of President Moise. That was followed by the devastating news of the unexpected passing of our longtime friend and Ecole du Village Principal, Jolene Jolie.

Jolene worked with us since the beginning of FH4H. She dedicated her life to her students. She didn’t have kids herself and was single. She will be greatly missed by all her students and staff and by all the flyinghigh4haiti volunteers.

It is the smiling faces of the children and their trust that education will bring them a better life that gives us hope and the strength and determination to continue with our mission of changing lives in Ile-a-Vache.

Labdoo sends refurbished laptops and iPads to FlyingHigh4Haiti's Ecole du Village

We would like to thank Labdoo and Eric Vives for the donation of devices to FlyingHigh4Haiti. Labdoo collects donated devices, installs educational programs on them, and redistributes them to schools in need. The Key Biscayne local hub, lead by Eric Vives, donated a total of 11 laptops, 5 ipads, and an Amazon Kindle to FlyingHigh4Haiti and EDEM Foundation.

These new devices will be put in the Kay Project, for the children of Ile-a-Vache to use freely as tools to advance their education.

KAY PROJECT UPDATE: Plaster Perfect

This week, the fifth phase of the Kay project, wall plastering, was finished. During the next, and last, stage of construction, windows, doors, paint, and a balcony railing will be installed.

The Kay Project is closer than ever to becoming a reality. A collaboration between Taylor Moxey Foundation and FlyingHigh4Haiti, The Kay Project will be a safe and stimulating space for the children of Ile-a-Vache to learn and create.

But we still need your help! The project includes a library and an arts building, both in need of furnishing and creative materials. Our vision is to have solar panels installed to power the educational tablets in the "Kay."

As a public charity, FlyingHigh4Haiti has access to more fundraising opportunities, including corporate grants, company donations, and participation in matching gift programs. Help Presnel get urgent cancer treatment in Haiti.

Presnel Dieu is a father of five with a form of treatable cancer in a country with almost no medical services for cancer patients and only one working MRI machine for 11 million people.

Presnel was working for FlyingHigh4Haiti's ‘Kay Project’ to build a library and art center in Ile-a-Vache when his family contacted us to say he was sick and had a large tumor on his neck. After many phone calls and doctor visits, FlyingHigh4Haiti has managed to obtain treatment for Presnel and, with your help, we are seeking to raise $5,000 to cure him.
