Dear Friend -
I hope you have enjoyed our visits with artists around the world who are part of the Dranoff family.
Elizabeth and Marcel Begmann have played many roles in our organization. Competition winners, they were invited by Loretta Dranoff as the first Artistic Directors of the Dranoff Competition to continue her vision of the role of the organization in the world of duo pianism. Marcel is a commissioned composer for Dranoff. And of course, they have returned many times for performances. They truly are family.
We view this challenging time as a chance to renew many of the longstanding relationship, as well as discovering new sides, new facets, new interests of the wonderful artists who are dedicated to the art of two piano music. As both pianists express in their message, this is the time for experimentation and to explore new ideas.
Right now, we are working on a plan for Dranoff season ahead - a season of hope continuing both beautiful music and a personal dialogue with you.
I want to thank you who have participated in the Dranoff survey. The results and answers you have given us will be very helpful in guiding us to new programming in near future. You have told us that you will join us in virtual programming for the time being and given us some wonderful parameters that will suit not only your taste in music but also the most comfortable formats to return to concertizing.
In addition to Music Mondays, we are embarking on a new project we call
A Breath of Music.
Cameo performances, short pieces of music to help you find respite from you day even, so that you can take a few deep breaths and relax. Starting next week, we look forward to sharing the calm and beauty of music.
